Are these other camshaft fuel lobes a realistic option?

Negative. Never used one, but after studying the geometry of the LT1 and LT4 high pressure pumps, there isn't enough control to be able to keep the proper preload and the pump cannot withstand it. It needs to see a very specific preload in order to maintain proper fuel pressure.

A shop down in Houston broke the fuel pump with the 50% lobe on one of my parts customer's LT4 CTS V3s. Our 38% is about the highest you can go and even then you have to measure the preload on the pump and we also run the stronger fuel pump springs and provide ARP studs for the fuel pump.
