Tire Care

Hey all,

Just curious what everyone uses for tire care for the side wall to keep them looking new and black after a good car wash?
I know somewhat that oil based stuff can be bad for the protective layer on the tire(such as tire shine) and can turn them brown quicker...

School me.

I use two different products. If worried about length of time the coating will be on it I use 303 protectant as it has a 40 proof sun blocker in it. This is recommended by a lot of upscale rv manufacturers due to long periods of time Rv's sit. I use this on my interrior and it is amazing how long it lasts. On my motorcycle it lasts about a month, daily driving in the weather of Florida. The other product I currently use because these tires will be toast before any cracks appear is Carpro PERL. This is supposed to last a while up to 3 months if you apply 3 coats. Doubt would cause any cracks as this is a very good professional product company the pro's use.

I have never found a tire shine that is head and shoulders above others, and the Armour all stuff below works as well as any. But the real key to tire detailing is SPRAY THE APPLICATOR, NOT THE TIRE. Much less mess , better coverage.

^^^ I use the gel version of this that you can buy from Walmart. I don't like the applicator that comes with the product so I bought a 2 pack from chemical guys. It works AWESOME.

I've been using this stuff for 5 years, no complaints and no sling.

Thanks guys...appreciate the info and pics! Used to be bad about not using the applicators till the sling really got on my nerves.

Love Amorall! I use the regular kind, been using it for years, have tried a lot of products over the years, not messy, does not stay on for months and does not have silicone in it...awesome stuff!

I actuallu use some scotch brite pads that have a nice heavy foam side on them, works just as well as applicators, .97 for 2 at Walmart.

Glen I am surprised you pulled out armorall for this. I would have went with Meguier's tire gel shine purple in a applicator style bottle over armerall. Maybe I just hate armorall too much. Good diagram for tire applicator use though.

I use Adams VRT. I am not a fan of glossy tires, this leaves a nice semi gloss black tire.

I agree it used to be total crap, left my dashboard and interior and wheels Oily and glossy.

Obviously they got a change of management along the way, If i post its ok, its because i have used it , not some hip shoot, and it passes the test. Just counted on my detailing shelf, i hsve 5 dressings here! Blackfire, poorboys, carpro, armour all outlast (still crap) and the AA EXtreme. If I can always find a product at the auto parts store I'll do that and save shipping from auto geek. Which sometimes is Horrendous..

And all dressings essentially work the same, one application is a matte finish two applications is Gloss....
