Car Search Engines
I'm in the market for a 2019+ 2SS, but I am only familiar with the basic search engines such as Cars.com and Carfax. Does anyone know of any others that may have some listings not on the mainstream engines?

When I was searching (nationwide, if need be) I also checked Autotrader, Capital One, and even Consumer Reports!
Technically speaking, both Avis and Hertz also list from their rental fleet, and I do recall seeing some cars with less than 20K on them. OTOH they were all grey or black, all automatic, and 2SS but w/o MRC or NPP (both very survivable without, but depends on what you want). The PITA was that some of the search engines would let you search nationwide, whereas some only offered "500 miles" as the broadest range -- very annoying. I *will* say that I did come across a few cars that were listed on one or two of them, but not on the others, and so on. I remember it got to where I could tell what was a newly-added car because I recognized what had already been on there. Took a while, but I got almost exactly what I wanted at a great price and with very low miles. You will want to check ALL of them ALL the time -- make sure you have covered all the bases. Oh, and check the Classifieds right here on this forum too! Good luck.

Yeah, I have pretty specific car I am looking for. Absolutely has to be under 20k miles, preferably under 10k miles. Has to have the MRC, NPP dual-mode exhaust, I would love a sunroof, but its not a deal breaker. Most importantly is it has to be manual. I have seen a bunch that have seemed like the perfect one, but then I see its an automatic and just keep scrolling.

Nice, because it searches multiple sites at once, including places like eBay and Craigslist.

I used AutoTempest for searching Facebook and Craigslist (never found any potential matches rip Craigslist)
Cars.com for general listing, CarEdge.com sometimes has an extra listing or two. Their price history is probably the best I’ve seen. The occasional AutoNation and Autotrader search. Same with Hertz and other company but for the specification you’re looking for it’s tough. The only engine that sometimes includes filters for MRC is TrueCar and they don’t get all of them. (Carfax is a good search but doesn’t show all the results as others do). If you have the VIN you can use the window sticker link and find all options. Otherwise good luck trying to find out if the car has MRC if it’s a private seller. No one ever posts the options page in the infotainment for suspension settings, closest is getting the QR code or seeing the MRC controller in the trunk if they even show it. After searching for half a year plus I ended up finding my deal through Facebook marketplace, my second option was also Facebook marketplace but they answered way too late. Every other option was cars.com and a good number of them were either sold already or sold a few days after I inquired. (One instance the car was available and within 12 hours sold even though they had it listed for some months ) The biggest issue really is dealerships throwing you around for out of state buying, some refuse to even entertain the idea and others magically sell the car. Beginning of 2023 I saw 2-3 1LE’s on AutoNation for good prices but were 2021 models. If they were the exact same car but 2022 in my search I’d have seriously considered those.

Lots of great deals to be made, and it all depends on how far/how much you're willing to go. 2 of my cars were less than 4 hrs away, and my current ZL1, was about 600 miles away. No wrong/right way to do this, all depends on what you really want/can afford/etc... And with the market as it is right now, it's probably the only way to get a car you really want.

CarGurus.com Autotrader.com are both good. If you can't do a search for "All", you just outsmart the search engine by setting your ZIP Code to 66952 (Lebanon, KS - geographic center of the contiguous US) and searching from there to max distance. This works if the search will support a 2,000 mile radius. You can also choose other specific locations like Albany, NY that are near the central area of various regions and set the search distance for 500 miles. https://gisgeography.com/us-regions-map/ |
