Broke at track!

Sucks!

Worst part is SCCA T3 national champ was there running laps and looking to play.

Best way to go faster is to do laps with faster drivers.

For as hard people drive these cars and as much as they get tracked there are very few issues like this.

Sucks that happened at the track of all places but id assume there are no warranty issues and will be a quick fix.

Good luck with it.

Bummer. Describe what was going on when it broke, like a shift on a bump, going over curbing? Better yet, got PDR video snapshot?

Sorry for delay on responding.
Ordered OEM. Personally know to many issues with aftermarket 1/2 shafts. It's the passenger side. Ordered 2 of them at 125 each!

Approximately the 3.51 mark it broke. Listen closely and you can hear rear tire chirp.
I was not even pushing hard. New front pads and new tires.

Thanks. Yeah I was going at warm up pace. ~2.5 seconds of all out pace.
Kinda wish these 1le came with 3.42 gears. 5th sucks, rpm drop is way to much.
Cam, Trunion, springs, retainers and Johnson lifters along with normal bolt ons.

Just Google that numbers you listed and what I ordered was just a whatever came from factory. I wasn't sure about zl halfshafts since ss 1le come with ediff. Not sure if zl1 does too.

Just to clarify, you are driving on 18's wheels with Hoosier R7's and Hawk DTC pads?

Reason is that I don't want someone to read the thread and think, "damn, 1LE's are breaking on the track and it's supposed to be a track car!". If you are using your car slightly outside of it's original design envelope, it should be understood.

Regardless, I wouldn't expect a axle shaft to break like that with what you are doing. Drag racing? OK, for sure.

Glad nothing happened to the car further and that you noticed the issue quick and pulled off track (safely).

yeah this last event i was running r7 and dtc 70.

so the apparently the 1le takes part number 84211204 whereas normal SS M6 takes 84309456. i ordered from internet vendor and before i clicked "buy" i verified fitment with the vin but after digging i see that they are two different part numbers. will it fit? guess i will find out when it comes possible? but no one can tell me the differences. the 84211204 is on backorder ad I have a two day event already paid for! WTF.

The GM HIPO ones are impossible to get!

Called DSS and they told me made to order and 6 weeks.
