1LE OR SS???

Been tossing around the idea of trading my car in for a 1le but I also want to add upgrades to the car suspension wise. Detroit speed coilovers, upgraded sways and brake lines etc so would it be a waste to get a 1le and swap out those companies?? Or could the 1le be a good starter car to begin the build with?

Buy a 1le and use your xtra money for track days and expenses..ie tires and brakes. In stock form it will hang with almost any car you will encounter...provided you do your part.

So the question is should you buy an SS with the 1LE package, and then remove the 1LE package? This thread makes zero sense. I mean if you have nothing better to do, and money to burn, go for it.

not sure why you would buy a 1le and before ever driving it plan on suspension upgrades...
def buy one but leave suspension alone...
like said , save money for tires and such...

There aren't many upgrades I'd do without driving it first - echoing what the others have said. One thing you could plan pretty quick is the solid rear cradle bushings as that is a no-brainer for most track folks, along with the tires/brakes suggested by others. Besides that, the driver upgrade is the best modification to make - track time.

Well, there are a lot of reasons why someone would want what the Detroit Speed coilovers have to offer. If they have spent time tuning a racecars suspension they absolutely will want the flexibility in camber adjustments, spring options, and compression and rebound adjustments. Without full access and the ability to fine tune the PTM and E Diff I would stay with the more analog SS for this type of work. There are also better (and more expensive) brake options for the car as well so the OP could save some money if those are the parts he is looking at.

Hey Rob, I follow your build on instagram. Pretty sweet ride you got going there! With regard to an SS vs a 1LE, for what you want to do, I would recommend an SS. The $6500 or so that you save can go toward those mods. It would also be easier to make it all play nice together on an SS. 1LE would require a mag ride delete and just generally be more expensive.

I'm not sure what is actually being asked in this post. But I will say this. The stock suspension on the SS 1LE will probably out perform any pieces you might add. Additionally, with the coilovers you lose the easy ability to go from track to touring.

Buy an SS 1LE and leave it alone.

The 1LE package is worth every single penny. ELSD, Mag Ride, Recaro Seats, Wheels/Tires, 1LE suspension components, those are the major things in the 1LE. There are other stuff that comes with it too. Can’t get all of that for $7k if you get a non-1LE.

To me the only reason to avoid the 1LE is if you want an auto. If manual is the gig the 1LE package is worth every penny!
