Estimated HP increase in Cold Weather Driving

There is definitely an HP increase in 20deg/cold weather driving over warmer temps of 60's and above. Feels like a good 10 to 15 or maybe 20 HP more. Anyone have a better idea of the cold weather increase Vs. Summer temps.

Your engine does not make more horsepower in cold weather it operates more efficiently at certain ambient temperatures as governed by the tune.

I also feel a noticeable difference in cold weather vs. hot weather. As said, it's likely related to efficiency, but nonetheless. When it's 80-100 degrees here in Florida, vs the every now and then 40-60 degree weather, there is quite a difference. I would say more than anything the car doesn't feel as sluggish in the cold. Call me crazy! You wouldn't be the first.

On the contrary, your engine DOES make more HP at cold temps due to increased air density.

I don’t know what these clowns are talking about. Everyone knows you make more power in the cold. The air is denser, more oxygen is injested and you make more power. It is very noticeable. The best et’s at the track are often when the temps are in the 40’s.

There's more to it than just temperature. Altitude, air pressure, and relative humidity are also factors.

“An engine has more power when it's cold, yes. Do NOT listen to the people who tell you that it's "more efficient" though, it's not. The engine is using more fuel to make that extra power. When the air is cold, it's denser and therefore it contains more oxygen per unit area. The FI computer in your car senses the extra oxygen and it injects more fuel in order to keep the mixture ratio correct. The extra fuel means there is more energy released with every combustion cycle. Your mileage will decrease slightly though.”
