Elon's big truck

I just read an article that stated the the Tesla big rig will do 0- 60 MPH in five seconds, when empty (and will do that in 20 seconds at 80,000 lbs.).

I strongly doubt that. Not sure if Elon Musk made that claim, or if the writer of the article got the info wrong.

Who knows... maybe I am wrong... this just sounds completely, uh, ludicrous.

I think Elon Musk is becoming Howard Hughes. You have to give him credit for thinking so big though.

It’s true the trucking world Was changed forever last night with the unveiling of the new Tesla semi. Not saying every truck on the road will be a Tesla but it’s going to drive the industry into an all electric future way faster then anyone thought. Is a 33 year old truck drive myself I an 100% sure I will be driving an electric truck by my 40th birthday.

I'll wait to see him with 12" finger nails.

I'm a long, long, long, distant relative of HH... the poorer side.

Something of note...several sources within the supplier community have said Tesla hasn't made any requests for parts. Or even asked for bids.

Tried to tell my friend this while discussing Elons new roadster: they need to produce the model 3 and have it be a grand slam for the roadster or semi to even have a shot at production.

read an article about the new semi in yesterdays paper.apparently walmart has preordered 5 of them.believeable as i work for a walmart-related trucking firm that is already using 100 LNG semis with sucess.article didnt mention if there was a transmission used in the truck or if variable gearing is even necessary.if it comes to pass it will be a game changer for sure.
