I wonder if this would be true if it was a vehicle built on a skateboard chassis? GM does need a home for the BEVs they expect to introduce to market by 2021.

I thought they may have come to their senses on what to name the Cadillacs, but instead they went from bad to worse...lol...Do they really think naming a car after a newton converted torque number is a good idea? Good grief.

Also, their naming department needs a math refresher:
Quote:
That number corresponds to the 3.6-liter V-6's 271 lb-ft of torque, which is 367 newton meters of torque; Cadillac generously rounds it up to 400 and says it will round each number to the nearest 50
The nearest 50 from 367 is not 400, its 350. Minus 17 vs plus 33

It doesn't sound like they're naming the car after the torque output, just adding another badge. Almost like a trim level. So in a couple years, maybe you'd be able to get a CT4 250, CT4 350, and a CT4 500. And the CT4 350 would presumably share the same engine as an XT5 350.

Its unnecessary for sure. And I think its a bad idea. But I think I can see what they're going for.

Yeah, I saw that. It's an added badge for each engine size, but it's not the new name for the whole car....Still fun to bash it, though...lol...It seems silly and likely is an answer to a question that will never be asked...lol...

As long as they are using an unfamiliar and meaningless (to most people in the US) measurement of torque (which, itself, most people don't know what it is) they should have gone all in and used dyne centimeter. That way instead of driving a pedestrian Cadillac 400 you could drive the much cooler Cadillac 4000000000.

Neighbor - Hey, you got a new car! What is it?

You - Cadillac Four Billion.

Neighbor - Whoa!
