New to us 2013 2SS Ragtop
New to 5th gen Camaros, but not new to LSx, wrenching, car forums etc. I already searched this place a ton before we pulled the trigger on my wife's 'new' daily driver
She randomly saw it on my laptop while I was browsing come dealer listings. Turns out the dealer was close. We go, she drives it - as she's adjusting the seat etc I'm rooting through the glovebox. Find the original window sticker, all the manuals and the registration of the last owner. I read the name on the registration out loud and my wife turns and looks at me "What was that name??" turns out my wife knows the woman who owned the car for the last 7 years. Original owner bought it -installed Borla cat back and K&N "Cold" air intake. No other mods. Barely drives it, trades in it a year later to a dealer. Apparently a exec at the dealer drove it. It had miles put on it and wasn't sold (auction) for 6 months or so. Previous owner buys it with 20K on the clock. Puts 55K on it in 7+ years. Think we did okay on price. I researched this gen ragtop pretty heavily before we bought it. It'll be garaged 90% of the time, but it will need a top in the next few years. Leaks a BIT into the spare tire / battery well when sitting in HEAVY rain. Nothing while driving. I've got the TSBs etc for the water management bag repairs, so I'll probably dig into that when I get time. Interior is in great shape, apparently previous owner had a 'disagreement' with a deer - RF fender was replaced, resprayed. Accident not reported. Pointed out the paint work to the dealer (they had it done after trade) wiggled the price down some. My wife likes it and I ain't complaining about 6.2 LS power when we take it anywhere I end up driving. Did have to order a SCTx4 tuner (canned tunes) to get rid of the AFM. That drone with the Borla was annoying. Might eventually get it dyno tuned (not for peak HP - but for under the curve / daily driver gains) but other than that, it'll just get driven. Need to figure out a CarPlay solution for this idiotic early MyLink. Still researching that. Did get my wife a decent phone mount, wireless charging solution in the meantime. |

Looks good!
I just bought a 2010 2SS in May with the same interior colors. I don't know about the Apple CarPlay stuff. Mine still has the old analog style radio in it. I was looking into doing the swap to get CarPlay with the 2013-2015 style radios. |

CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5/6. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wives', husbands, girlfriends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

Thanks for the welcome.
As for the CarPlay solution, this my wife's daily and she hates wires. So she asked me what to buy, so we ordered a wireless CarPlay receiver, the iDatalink CAM1 dash kit and iDatalink Maestro RR2. I finished up the harness last night. Hope to get it installed later today with any luck. Love the iDatalink stuff. Able to retain steering wheel controls, all factory integration and ADD real time gauges, TPMS display, etc and wireless CarPlay. |
