Parts following end of 2024 Production

So, after the last 2024 Camaro is made (say January 31, 2024), and the three year warranty runs, plus a couple more for powertrain, etc., at what point in time does one expect it to become difficult to get replacement parts for the 6th gen Camaro, to have a dealership fix problems, etc.? Is this a non-issue for say the next 10, 15 or 20 years, or does the problem surface much sooner? Thoughts?

I sold my 2009 Viper for this very reason (e.g. who could I count to keep making 345/19 rear tires? and when I cracked my dash, I was told I got one of the last few new replacements left anywhere in the US).

That said, I believe that GM has a much more robust pipeline of replacement Camaro parts for the rest of this decade.

I have heard they keep parts for 10 years but as parts are bought then supply goes down. So then it would be the aftermarket.

"If" I own the car that long that I need some GM part and can't get it... It will get sold/traded off for something else. I highly doubt I'll own it that long though. I will end up with a C8 at some point in the future.

There is a law I believe that parts need to be available for the car up to 10 or 15 years after its discontinue model year. So basically we are good until 2034-2039ish time frame for OEM. Seeing as people are getting parts for 3rd Gen Camaros from aftermarket still today I would assume its nothing to worry about.

I understand your viewpoint, and it's certainly a solution. But, it doesn't answer the question. There are likely some who plan to keep their recent model year well into the future as a toy since V8s are going to die soon (maybe another 6-8 years in the new Mustang).

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was under 10 years. I just spun a rod bearing and cracked the crank in my TT 2020 and the l86/lt1 crank is on national back order. I thought I would be slick and looked up a 2015 ls3 factory crank and it’s discontinued, that’s only 8 years. I ended up getting a factory forged l8t crank and forged rotating assembly but it all does make me a little nervous for future availability. Hopefully some things with the Gen vi small block coming out will retrofit but who knows.

I am personally wondering if this does not spawn a giant ass aftermarket. Not for CAMARO specifically, but all ICE.

Think about it, 3D printers are getting really cheap and can make some really good parts. Let alone stand alone machining platforms that are also getting cheap.

All the parts have CAD files so unless the MFG flushes them and you have to redesign, you can make a part, pretty cheap.

Lol way to optimistic. Manufacturer's are only required to supply parts for the duration of a vehicles warranty and even that's not guaranteed. Some are better and others are quick to be done. Have any of you seen how many parts gm has discontinued for the 5th gens the past few years? Guessing not by some of the responses already posted.

I had always heard there was a 10 or even 15 year requirement to continue to provide parts on discontinued models, but after a fairly deep dive in the net, I couldn't find any federal mandate for manufacturers to do so. Parts do have to be available to meet warranty replacement needs on defective parts for the duration of the warranty- but apparently there is no law requiring car makers beyond that.

Hmm. Well if that's the case, and I'm not saying it's not, why the F would anyone buy a 2023 or 2024 Camaro (with visions of long-term ownership) if parts will be hard to find in 5+ years. These aren't issue free cars. It's not like a Toyota that can run problem free for 10+ years out of the box with nothing but oil and maybe some brake pads. To your point, I could see parts becoming hard to find in 5-8 years since GM has all but said F'it as to the Camaro and given up some time ago.

I’d say to look at previous generations, 4th gen especially. Imo a better basis to view how the parts will be available x amount of years into the future

Yea, it will soon go EoML (end of marketing life) then when the warranties/extended warranties run out EOL (end of life). I agree with 10+ years for parts availability. Hope that is the case. My concern is if there is a revisit of chip shortages, etc..then there may be some concerns.
