Anyone wanting a "new" 2017,18,19" Corvette can get a really good deal right now.

I doubt the base Mid engine Corvette could put down the same lap times as the SS 1le and no way the Z51 would touch what the ZL1 1le could do . After all they are just Camaros.

Yes , make them part of the Corvette brand.

I for one think a mid engine Vette with a 0-60 of sub 3.0 will be a force in all venues... As I said it is a game changer.
I just see the C8 as the next car to put good use to traction management and automated technology to achieve a 0 to 60 in 3 seconds, game changer ,maybe for some.

Really? Does the base come with all season tires or something? It would have to be severely under-tired to not beat a SS 1LE around track.

I would imagine the base C8 would infact beat the SS 1LE. It’s easily 400lbs lighter, will make way more whp due to increased engine hp and less drivetrain loss, and the DCT is second to none.

I do agree that the Z51 will not beat the ZLE but I think it would be close.

I think the base mid engine will have to beat the SS 1Le , right now I have my doubts. Base sits on all season tires but they are good, just not +1.0G good.

Next summer I may go for a C8, unless Chevy ups the HP of the ZL1. I plan to keep my 17 Zl1, but give my wife my 18 Daytona and get myself something else.

Like to hear more info on the C8 Twin Turbo LT7 that is supposedly being tested. Like to know if rumored or fact. Here is the article: http://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/07/...tte-z06-leaks/

I'm guessing a lot of that would also depend on the particular track layout as well...real life numbers will be fun to watch!! The C8 will end up turning some heads just like the ZL1 & GM deserves credit for what they are delivering for the $$$.

I understand looks are subjective but if a percentage of prospective vette buyers fall into this category that it may be a push for Camaro sales in the SS, ZL1 & 1LE...if GM is indeed looking at canning the Camaro once again & then see an uptick in 2020 plus sales?? Anyway, just got me thinking about the Camaro in general & the total fail by GM after engineering such a wonderful vehicle that outperforms the competition and yet not support it successfully on the backend with any sort of marketing plan & what other members opinions are in regards to future sales for the next 2-3 years & the Gen7's future.
The C8 has generated a ton of interest and has even got the ford guys buying it. It looks like the entire 2020 model year allotments maybe 30k cars are almost sold out. I would think corvette is taking sales from Camaro when you can get a base car for under 60k

Whether it beats the 1LE or not, will not effect sales. Most people don’t care about a tenth or two around a road course. They don’t even know what a 1LE is

Or what a road course is

And so what if the base comes with all season tires. Tires are a wear item and easy and relatively cheap to replace. At least cheap compared to the Z51 package pricing anyway. Gearing differences would be harder to overcome.

who cares? Top speed was fun to talk about in middle school when playing Need 4 Speed lol. The Viper ACR set all sorts of track records and had a top speed of "only 174"

It should beat the SS 1LE. LL has the C7 Stingray ahead of the SS 1LE by a second so I would think the C8 would be better

Yeah, when talking C8, N/A Camaro's need not apply. I do not think it will even be close.

I am starting to think GM allowed the 6th Gen Camaro to get unusually close to the C7's performance levels because they knew the C8 was around the corner and would change all that.

If there is a Gen 7 Camaro, I suspect it will get more power and more practicality. Not sure how much more performance they can squeeze out of that platform at that price range, it is just so good now, they don't really have to.
