Anyone know of an app (to be used with generic BT OBD2 reader) that will clear ABS and airbag codes? For my G8.

Torque won't do it.

The blue tooth reader just arrived in the mail so I'll test it out this week!

I know you can go to the dealer or an autozone to get the code read, but if you plan to eventually mod your car and void the warrenty those trips to the dealer are not free and autozone stopped clearing codes (they only read) so I want to invest in my own since I'll be doing most of the work on the car myself anyways.

From some of the other threads there sounds like there are a few options out there, you can get an actual scan tool (seems like they run around $150+) and I've also heard there are some bluetooth OBDII devices that you can use with an app on your phone for around $25.

If you have a scan tool or a blue tooth OBDII reader and app that works on an iphone that can both read & clear codes I'd be interested to know the brand, model, and price.
Dash Command, works on phone and pad, will allow you to clear codes.

I am thinking of buying this locally here in Winnipeg

https://www.princessauto.com/en/deta...er/A-p8454324e

Is this a waste of money? I bought a different brand reader from Canadian Tire and it won't clear my codes on my 2019 Camaro.

Any advice would be great as I have parked my camaro for the winter but can't use the remote start to fire it up throughout the winter due to the engine light being on

Thanks

I can't speak to that model but I have 2 of their units. AL319 basic code reader and MX808 scanner. I highly recommend their products

I have an Autel MD808 Pro and really like it.
I have used it to re-teach the parking brake and throttle among other things as well as doing general diagnostics of course.
It works on other brands of vehicles but you can delete support for the ones you don't want, or add them back in any time you want.
They now have a less expensive version that does almost the same things- the MD802.

I have had it for more than a year and so far they have been really good with updates.
Beats the heck out of the old Innova 3100c I used to have, but to be fair that was also less than half the price so that is to be expected.

Both of these units will clear codes?

I bought one from Canadian Tire that would not clear the codes..... it gave the option but wouldn't. The Innova 3030H was the model and it did nothing to help me remove the codes...... Codes are P0420, P0430 and P2096 if I remember correctly.

These started after I had kooks LTH installed. That is when the engine light starting popping up. I did get them cleared from a buddy but they came back on again once I hit 80 KM/H. They were still there when I parked it and I would like to remove the codes.

I do plan on getting a dyno and tune done to it in the spring once I get her out of hibernation from the winter.

Thanks

It feels like Autel is the brand that will work. The question now is how much do I want to invest into an ODB2 reader..... I think the MD808 is too much for me to spend , I can't justify the amount versus the amount of times I will actually use it.

I do like what I read about the MD808 though.

Thanks

I highly recommend an OBDII Bluetooth scanner with Torque Pro app. The scanner is around $20 and Pro is $5. It can read and reset codes as well as monitor all sensors and give real time gauges. That's why a lot of people in this thread were talking about it. It's powerful and inexpensive.

Edited: here's the link, it's $10 now

most cheap odb2 readers will only clear faults that trigger a CEL. some module errors will still be a problem even if they dont trigger a CEL.

For instance, coolant temp sensor failure wont trigger a CEL all the time, but will cause the fan to run full blast and the temp gauge to not read anything even though the cars computers are getting accurate coolant temp sensor data. The gauge and modules wont care what it says while the error is in memory but no CEL will be shown to let you know something is wrong.

something to keep in mind.
