Coilovers
Putting aside *why would you do that?* has anyone replaced their suspension with coilovers? Do they fit right in or do I need to buy something more than just the coilovers? I have the gizmo that overrides the computer already. Thanks.

I put the Ohlin's Road and Track system with Moreno Brothers camber plates on a 2013 ZL1 with 575 lb/in springs front and rear. Everything fit perfectly. The is mostly a "track only" car.
When the magnetic shocks are disconnected, a warning is triggered and the car's speed is limited to 85mph. The simulators failed quickly. I had a tuner raise the speed limiter, but he could not clear the warning. I clear the warning manually every time I start the car and the warning no longer affects the performance of the car. |

Maybe because not many people have done it, and therefore not many people have the knowledge to answer your question.

I am not sure how much the Ohlin's lowered the car since the car was already on Pfadt lowering springs (maybe 20 - 30 mm from stock). Ohlin's is not ride adjustable for the gen 5 Camaro. The Ohlin's coil-over kit comes with 400lb/in front and 600lb/in rear springs. I opted for higher rate springs in front for track use. 575lb/in is a compromise so that the car is still street-able (roads are decent in the Northwest). For track only, 750lbs/in would be better.

I have ridetech coilovers and it’s a fairly simple swap. You shouldn’t have to change anything except maybe your front endlinks but that came with my setup.

I bought the override gizmo from pfadt (afe now) for $250 sometime ago, but have not yet decided to switch to the coilovers. I asked my tuner once about overriding the computer and he knew nothing about it. And this guy is a serious tuner, uses hp.

Ive played around with HPTuners a lot, there are some speed limiter things in there, didn't think it was related to the MagRide ... ill have to look again. Maybe he had it tuned out at the dealer using something other than HPTuners or EFILive

so I pulled up my file, there is a section for speed limiters in the speedometer section. You could probably set all of those to 318 and raise enable the RPM. That might do it.
Maybe ill unplug a shock and see... |
