Poster number 7, the reason is they last a long time. I had one in a car for 14 years. Get the Everstart Maxx!

I have poor cranking on hot and going to replace my battery. I am the second owner and found that installed 100 AH battery non AGM. I am looking through the rockauto and all suggested batteries are AGM-type. Is it crytical that battery should be AGM and 80 AH ? Our car doesnt have a start-stop, I wounder why AGM is mandatory ?

Poor cranking when hot might not be a battery issue, many guys have added addition ground cables to help fix that problem!

I bought an AC delco AGM. it lasted a yr. Here’s the thing with batteries. Go to place that sells them frequently. That way you’re ensuring a new battery. Nothing wrong with Walmart batteries

Check ALL ground locations for corrosion. These cars are getting older & one bad connection will cause you fits. I went through all mine last winter when I swapped motors & some were marginal. The car can now sit for a month & crank fine.

Either will work an AGM battery won't leak acid in your trunk if it gets a crack in the case. Places like Rock Auto sell AGM because shipping a conventional lead acid battery is extremely expensive due to leak potential.

No it doesn't, but if you don't ever want to go through what I experienced twice with my LA battery, and the original poster in this thread, you'll get one. I'm changing mine out for one!

Interstate. I have an Interstate distribution center here that also accepts drive ins/counter sales. Sometimes they will have “blems”. These are brand new batteries with a missing or torn label, scratched case, etc. They carry less warranty but a $250 battery will be $65 bucks. I always check for a blem in the size I need first.

Funny this thread popped back up. I'm in the market for a new battery since my old "flooded" LA battery puked all in my trunk. I'm going to replace it with an AGM batery this time. I was looking at the AC Delco Gold AGM, the Duralast AGM, and the Diehard Platinum AGM. The only way I can get the AC Delco is through Summit Racing, and I kinda don't trust the shipping handling through UPS. They don't handle things very carefully, or I could order it through the dealership for an arm and a leg. I looked at the Walmart Everstart Maxx's AGM batteries and the were the cheapest. But I have never bought any batteries from Walmart. I see some of you have. The AC Delco from Summit is only 175 bucks, the other two are 250-260. Walmart was 179. I haven't driven the Camaro since I had the issue and took the battery out. Been researching and shopping for AGM's.. I've learned a lot about them though! Just can't make up my mind. Don't want to cheap out on one either.

Never buy the cheapest.
You should buy the battery from a battery store, because they are not "already old".
