What is this piece and does this look like an issue?
I purchased an axle from a forum member because I have a tear in the boot of mine. I received the package today and was looking to do the install tomorrow. There’s a small dent on the metal on the side that does into the diff. I’m not sure if this ring presses against the seal to create a seal. I really don’t want to install this and have any issues. Thanks guys

I would not install that. It spins, meaning its going to wear uneven. If anything were to press to the seal, it would need to be even all the way around.

A couple of gentle hits with a plastic hammer or something similar should fix that.

But as I think more about it. That shouldn’t press against the deal. Cause flat or not the seal is stationary. If that were pressed against the seal, it would destroy the seal even if that was flat. It may not touch anything. If that’s the case it should be fine. But I was hoping someone could give a difinitive answer

When itīs not deformated it will not touch the seal but it may do now. But you should be able to fix that like I mentioned before.
