Yeah basically everything is a bolt on except aftermarket cam, heads or ported stock heads. Or anything FI and nitrous

Converters are never bolt-on mods.

Bolt On:
CAI
Intake Manifold
Throttle Body
Exhaust (headers, etc)

A converter requires you to drop the transmission, and everything involved with it. It's the same as when people don't consider heads and cams to be bolt-on's.

Yup, agreed. How is a cam not a bolt on, but a converter is?

I've done a few converter installs, they are a pain in the ass for the DIY guy, a bolt on is meant to be a simple EASY to bolt on item like a CAI or intake...

A "bolt on" car has always been a loose term meaning stock cam and heads basically. And yes a converter is considered a bolt on.

I don't really agree....but converters are in fact considered bolt ons. At least on most every fast list/forum ive been on over the past 10-15 years.

11.6 with full bolt on, e85 and converter? lol...more like high tens...and not a stripped tin can. Of course with good DA. Someone will probably get an 11.6 stock with a drag pack...we are already at 11.7.

When my previous Mustang was on the S197 fast list they had a better breakdown, but much more cars.

My car had a converter and was not on the "bolt on" list as that was reserved for true bolt ons...they had a separate category between that and "power adders". Forgot what it was called, something like "extensive bolt ons"...

So what will the official ruling for torque converters be on this forum's fast list? Bolt on?

I believe GTKLRSS posted this 11.54 slip on Facebook some time ago, if it's the same slip then he claimed this pass was with a nitrous tune in it (did not use it obviously)and that would make sense.

******As owners will quickly discover, 2016 Camaro's are very fast cars that require driver skill and experience to coax out all of the performance potential built-in by the engineering and production arms.

The Fast List will have numerous sub-lists, as submissions warrant:

Bone-Stock on Stock Tires. This means completely stock with no performance changes whatsoever; must have stock tires, stock exhaust, stock airpath, stock “untuned” computer (ECU/PCM), etc.

Bolt-Ons without Internal Engine Modification (e.g. modified airpath, headers, PCM-tune, aftermarket clutch, non-stock rear gears, skinny front tires)

Internal Engine Mods plus Bolt-Ons (e.g. stock displacement with bolt-ons plus heads and/or cam)

Power Adders (Nitrous, Turbo, Supercharger) *****

I agree that the torque converter is in the "gray area" of bolt-ons but the rules for posting times clearly state that an aftermarket clutch for the M6 is NOT an internal engine mod so that should resolve the issue right there.

In my opinion, category 4. "Bolt ons with internal mods" is where a converter car should be.

A clutch is a wear item, a converter is not. IMO they are not the same thing. Unless your clutch is slipping a new clutch won't improve ET, an aftermarket, higher stall converter will...

+1

A converter would be a "Bolt on with internal mods" category.

A bolt on is anything you can easily add or remove without disassembling a portion of the drivetrain.

LT's, exhaust, CAI, TB, intake manifold, UDP=Bolt On

Converter, DS, transbrake, cam, heads=Internal Mods

That's what I would consider fair.
