Noticed something interesting about my ZL1
So, 2 days ago, I pulled both sections of my rear seat out of the car to clean them.
I let me dog ride back there twice and it was covered with German Shepperd hair. Well, I never got around to vacuuming and scrubbing over the past 2 days, but the weather this morning was gorgeous, if not cold (28 F). So, I pulled her out of the garage and drove her to work, sans back seat components. Wow, the exhaust sounds so much more aggressive while driving, when you don't have the rear seat back there. I had no idea the materials in the seat provided so much noise dampening. I probably won't have time to clean the seat until this weekend, so I will be enjoying the additional sound for 1 more day tomorrow. Just thought I would share this. I mean, who knew the rear seat did so much to quiet the sound in the cabin? Cheers folks!

I drove my 2010 SS with headers and hi-flo cats back to NY from the Camaro Nationals in MD once with the rear seat down to accommodate the splitter I was bringing back. Never made that mistake again, lol. But agree, short local drive, probably sounds pretty good.

I drove from Raleigh, NC to Durham, NC today. I don't have headers and still have the stock suitcase in the back. Like I said, didn't sound bad...

Like I’ve said before, around town I keep my back seat down so I can enjoy the exhaust note more. Been doing it for over 2yrs.
Welcome to the club. |

I've driven around with the seats down and noticed this as well. Only put them down when I need to.
Another thing to know, is that when you have the back seats down and your windows down then when you get over 35 or 40, the reverberations from the wind is unbearable! |

Good to know, but at 30 degrees F, was a tad too cold for me to have the windows down...

At 60, it feels like the car is about to have the top blown off so I can only imagine at 150!
Oh. Don't ever roll down the back windows only in a newer Focus hatchback. The reverberations in that are 10x that in the Camaro. |

My ZL1 sounds louder with the rear seat back down too. After I had SLP headers and a loudmouth 2 full exhaust installed on my 2010 2SS it was very loud with the rear seat back down.

I tried this on my ZLE only to find out the seat does not fold down.

As for the volume in the cabin discussion. YEAH, it's like 20-30 decibels louder in the cabin if you have the seat down. That thing blocks a lot of sound. I took my ZLE for a spin after installing the JRE 125whp setup and had the rear seat out and the trunk lining all pulled out and it was wicked loud (also had catless headers for this).
