How did I not find out about this place BEFORE it's planned close of business?

It was never a well advertised place. I'm about 120 Miles from there, have driven by and never stopped. A lot of impressive cars

I went through there a few years ago and was in awe of the muscle he had! Even had a Z-16 Chevelle 396! I wandered around there for around 2 or 3 hours. I met Rick in the back and asked him if he was looking for an old gearhead mechanic. LOL He said he had many offers. Really nice guy, it's a shame they are being auctioned off. Wish I had a couple hundred thousand laying around.

This place is awesome. I've been there 3 times. Twice at the old building and once at the new building. The collection this one guy has is insane. Its an absolute shame for this to be closing.

The auction is happening now. I don't see it televised, but there is a livestream on the Mecum website. A lot of cars sold yesterday. These are some of the ones that caught my attention:

Awesome cars and good prices. I hope the owner is happy with the sales. Probably will be seeing less and less of original or restored to original muscle cars. It seems more money is paid for resto-mods than restored to stock these days.

People love the looks of the muscle cars, but want the good stuff that is unseen. It sort of still speaks to the popularity of retro look with modern underpinnings. Too bad GM has gone away from this. My $.02.

Yea it was a shame to see that place close up. I have some friends that live over there and they talked about it all the time, I never made it over to check it out. We have this one just up the road from me, 15 minutes drive and they have a car show coming up in mid March, they do it every year. This guy has some really cool rides!!

I read something from somebody that was actually there and they said the prices were up there (ex. 280k for 58 Impala Convertible) because there were some very deep pockets bidding and it showed. I still can't believe that 65 Z-16 Chevelle SS396 only went for 160K!! That is one of 50 made!!
