Thumbs up Review on Non-NPP Borla S-type purchase

Bought the chrome tipped single exiting borla s-type from summit racing. Best price with a military discount ~1100 out the door. #11922

Car is a completely stock 23 2SS Camaro V8, 6spd manual.

Install was straight forward and can be done by anyone who has access to car ramps. Don't recommend a jack as you do quite a bit of wrestling. Used a Reciprocating SAW to make cuts.

Exhaust quality is good. Fit is good. This exhaust is quite. It's just a note above stock. It certainly comes alive at high rpm and burbles some, but for folks that want to hear the exhaust at all times, this isn't for you. Overall happy with it, but would of liked it to be a touch louder. 🤔

You could get some headers and keep the Borla, that would wake it up a bit. Unless you don't want to have to mess with a tune.

I have had mine on for 15000 miles, it gets louder as you break it in.

Has anyone weighed the stock suitcase setup versus the Borla Type S? I'm curious if there are any weight savings.

A non NPP dual tip OE suitcase system versus the Borla S is a 10-12 lb difference, thats it. Dual tip OE meaning, single outlet on each side.
The OE non NPP system has no valves and no motors, and single outlet on each side so it would be the lightest OE set up

10 to 12 pounds is not bad, I have the dual tip NPP exhaust so adding the weight of the valves might mean a weight reduction 8 pounds? I don't consider the actuators as part of the actual exhaust.

The quad tip NPP OE suit case system with valves should heavier than my dual tip OE Non NPP with no valves by maybe 10lbs. My Borla S system is also a single outlet tip each side to match with no NPP valves. If your Borla S system is quad tipped with valves than that system will be heavier then my Borla s syetem. Do you understand now, your above remark about weight reduction didnt make sense to me.

When I say dual tip I am meaning per side, if that is not convention, it is what I am used to. If, as you say, comparing a single outlet per side suitcase OE muffler with a Corsa S single outlet per side muffler setup reduces weight by 10-12 pounds, I am simply guessing that comparing a stock dual outlet per side setup with NPP to a Corsa S dual outlet per side with NPP will reduce weight by perhaps 8 pounds. My exhaust is stock.

Your post says you wanted a weight reference from stock OE versus Borla s not corsa s. OE Stock or not optional would be a single outlet each side and no NPP. I would think a OE NPP quad tipped versus a borla S quad tipped npp would be the same weight difference of 10-12 lbs
