Removing sound dampener from SC lid

Who here has actually removed it? I am curious how it is attached as I plan on removing mine this coming weekend. Didn't want to get balls deep in it only to find out I was missing a needed tool. Thanks

There are just 5 x Torx 20 screws holding the plate to the lid, so that and a rag to wipe off the little bit of oil you'll have under there.

Does it make that big of difference? Also, easy to put back on if you change your mind after?

It's noticeable, but not dramatic. Doing that and a CAI make it sound good enough, IMO. Not as good as a Hellcat, but nearly on par with something like an S4 with a Roc-Euro intake if you've heard one of those.

It's easy enough to put back on, but it's not worth it. There are a lot of lid bolts, and the more you monkey with it, the greater the reason you should replace the lid gasket.

Plus, the lid is sharp in places, so please use a rag and be careful handling it.

You're thinking of the water deflector under the hood element.

This is a metal plate covered on one side by sound deadening material that is attached to the underside of the supercharger lid.

I've done it. Not drastically different but it was worth it for the effort.

Next stop, new S/C lid...

Car is at the detail shop getting ready for summer. When I get it back I will post a PDR with the new lid and one with the dampener removed. Huge difference. If you don't like whine then don't buy the NX Lid

Very nice!

Factory painted?

It looks like a heck of a lot more than a blower lid going on there.
