CAI

Hey guys, I'm thinking about adding a CAI. I'm not really concerned with performance gains, if they happen great, but I'm going after added sound. I've looked over YT vids on RotoFab, WeaponX and a few others but can't get a good before and after video to really tell the difference in sound. Anyone have any recommendations on who makes the best sounding CAI for the ZL1? I know this is subjective, but looking for suggestions anyways.
Thanks.

Between the sound of the blower and the exhaust, your not going to hear any aftermarket CAI sound regardless of maker.

Them things are so overpriced it ain’t even funny. In my 13 ZL1 it made an amazing sound especially downshifting. I had Rotofab.

I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. I had the rotofab on my '13 ZL1 as well.

I think he is looking for the additional blower sound (whine) from adding a intake.

I went with the rotofab and really enjoy the increase in whine it produced!

Does the GM CAI work on our ZL1s? I am just thinking about keeping the warranty in place.

10-4. I had a Rotofab on my 2013 ZL1. Great quality, fit and finish, but I don't recall hearing any increased intake sound after the install. If so, I would guess it was minor and yes these are pricey for the performance given. A dyno tune is the best bang for the buck IMO.

I had one on my 2012 and it was louder mainly at WOT, but the engine noise tended to drown it out a little. Maybe the supercharger lid sound deadener removal would be the best mod for added whine on the gen 6.

I put the Roto-Fab on mine and it did make a slightly louder sound but nothing crazy. Now my catback kinda drowns it out. But I can still hear it. You can also hear it on all of my PDR videos so that says something. Definitely get an open element filter tho.

The GM intake that shows up for our cars is only for the lt1. The fact that i comes up even under our vin numbers is an error. I bought and had gm try to install it...going through all the proper channels so as not to void the warranty. It took them 4hrs to tell me it wouldn't fit....only for lt1. It is just the cold air inductions base cai anyway. They partner w GM. I think one will come out for ours through them and gm eventually.
