Ceramic coated headers yay or nay?
I was dead set on Kooks ceramic coated long tubes, but the shop I just had install my 3.91 uses non-coated American Racing headers. I asked about the coating and I was told the high quality stainless headers do not need it. I thought the coating helped with the heat as well as for corrosion protection?

Yes coat them if you can afford it.

Yes to the infinite power get them coated! www.marylandspeed.com offers free ceramic coating for Kooks headers with the code 'FREECOATKOOKS' or at least they used to. It is a high quality coating that has a lifetime warranty just like their headers.
Just as an example for reason why you should, my buddy got Stainless Works headers with ceramic coating and did a temperature comparison between stock manifolds and the ceramic coated headers. The stock manifolds after 30 minutes of driving were 500*F while the ceramic coated long tubes after the same 30 minutes were 400*F. 100*F is a heck of an under hood temperature drop.

Ceramic coating will help keep the heat down, do it!

No need unless you want to brag about it. It's gonna get hot under the hood regardless.

non coated headers will look like garbage down the road. Get them coated, my headers still look like the day I put them on 5 years ago.

My kooks came black coated even though I ordered them chrome, they just disappear in the engine bay. Any reduction in heat under hood is a win.

Now's the time to do it if your going to do it and they looks so pretty when you get the back. They lose some of their shine a bit, but mine still look great after 4 years compared to if there non-coated.
