I'd gladly swap my '99 GT for a new 2.3

The four cylinder phobia in here is laughable.

If I start routing engine/exhaust noise in from my car, I might go deaf.

I'd swap your GT for a Pinto.

But to your point, folks are allowed to form their own preferences. If they want 8 cylinders and the gas mileage (and sound) that comes with it, so be it until the government decides otherwise.

I don't mind a 4 cylinder in a muscle car but fabricating exhaust tone is pretty pathetic. I think BMW did it too with the new m3 as well.

It's looking like the Ecoboost 12.50 run was indeed done with the stock IRS. It doesn't surprise me really..based on what I have read the Mustang's IRS is a hybrid of the 8.8 and the truck rear end for durability.

If that's true..it's going to be a VERY strong IRS.

He's saying a 5.0 went 12.0X with just DR's and a tune.
Evan Smith posted the picture and teaser details on FB, yesterday. What's missing in both of these scenarios is the level of tune and, therefore, the gas required...you'll have to wait for the magazine for FULL details.

Probably E85. Even with some tiny turbos you can make gobs of torque on the corn before the turbo runs out of efficiency up top. That would explain how they are lifting the front, but only running mid 12s.

It is not a matter of strength of the IRS, it is a matter of physics. A solid rear transfers the weight much better and lends itself much better to launching and pulling the front wheels. A front engine, IRS car typically needs to get into the 9's before lifting the front wheels even slightly. The only vehicles that pull wheels at those times are rear engined cars like VW's that have very little weight in the front.

Yes. My old LLT ran a little better than 12.5 (around 410 RWTQ) and would just barely pull the passenger tire off the ground (less than an inch). My LFX has a stiffer front suspension but also over 700 RWTQ and it can't pull them off the ground. It is just very hard to do with an IRS.

Agreed. I want to know how to get my front wheels off the ground.

We also have to remember that this isnt a typical multilink IRS setup. The ILIRS in these cars behaves very differently than a traditional IRS.
