For a competitive set, foreign or domestic doesn't really matter so much as mainstream vs luxury. I imagine that a lot more people are going to be cross shopping the Suburban against the Sequoia or Armada than the Escalade or Navigator.

If that were the case, which advantage has the Suburban over the Armada and the Sequoia?

It's bigger and American.

Despite whatever BS people may believe about foreign passenger cars, it's still a widely-held opinion that the domestic automakers build the best trucks/SUVs.

Armada is a pig! A friend of mine has one... I thought the Suburban gas mileage was bad, but wow, the Armada takes the cake! He's getting 13mpg!!!! The Sequoia isn't that much better... 14mpg!

The Suburban advantage is roooooom over the other two, plus it'll give you 16mpg!!!!!

You forgot the GLS450 and kickass GLS63 AMG.

Not to mention the new G class rock climbing beast.

My favorite in this area are the German cars. Nobody believes me that they are "German over-engineered" until after warranty and they have a monthly car payment and a monthly repair bill.

Old motorcycle saying...

What the Italians call 'character' the Japanese consider 'design flaws' and the Germans deny to their graves...

I've been waiting to see if Chevrolet puts the bowtie in a dumb place when refreshing the Colorado. They're skipping the MCE for Colorado for 2019. It appears the mid cycle refresh will be a 2020 model. So if you were waiting on a purchase to see the refresh, you'll continue to wait for another year.

Also the Armada won WORST vehicle in its segment for being a hunk of junk like two years in a row, so did its upper trim infinity counterpart.

I'm with you on this one. After seeing the 2019 Camaro, and the 2019 Silverado, I'm kind of scared as to what the 2020 Colorado refresh (assuming it IS coming) will look like.

OK...so the Silverado isn't horrible...its OK, but seems like the more I see it, the more I don't like it.

My hope is that since the Colorado kind of has its own look currently, which is distinctly different from Silverado, that they will continue that trend going forward.

As for the Canyon, it would be nice if it had its own look also, but at least looking like a mini Sierra isn't really a bad thing.

Generally speaking, brands move towards homogenizing their lineup not away from it. If something is an outlier, odds are its either going to get brought back towards the family on the next restyle or its the new direction that everything else will be heading.

Kind of like how Chevy's current design trend is hideous front ends on everything
