Yup.. don't think a 17 would work. This post http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showpo...5&postcount=34 has pictures of a 18x4 space saver wheel on the front of my 1LE. It's tight.

The difference would be the race stars were made for our cars and the big brakes vs the gto spares.
I would call race stars. The 92 bracket racer is what I inquired about, they assured me the 17X4.5 would clear the 6pistons. The recluse could be different. I hope not because I think those look awesome on the ops car

I know it won't be the same backspace/offset but I can mock up my rear wheels on the front to see if the inner diameter of the wheel would clear. If it does then it's a matter of will the spokes clear

My pictures were for information only.. that's my spare. Not a race setup

Rear Race Star Wheels

The rear wheels, 10.5 x 17" arrived this week and here are pics of fitment. Everything clears and looks like plenty of room, tires will be mounted and I will get them on car ASAP.

Wheel/Tire Weight

I reduced the weight by 102 lbs compared to the stock wheels and tires, hopefully good for a tenth! It has come down to weight reduction and contact patch at this point...

I test fit my rear race stars on the front just to see if their 17" would clear the 6piston calipers. It appears they would work, but it's very close!!

These are my 17x9.5 with the lugnuts fully seated, but not torqued. I spun the wheels around as fast as i could and didnt hear any rubbing and i didnt see any scrapes on the inside of the wheel. As long as the spokes clear i would think the 17x4.5 will fit.

I wish you were closer, you could run over and we would throw em on. I talked in depth and detail with em prior to pulling the trigger. You will be good with the 4.5 x 17s.

Yeah that would be cool! Maybe If I bring a jack and stands, another member that runs 131 motorsports park might let me do a quick test fit I only know of one other member that runs there with that setup

But I really doubt it would be an issue I wouldn't think my calipers are wider than the standard brakes. Getting them balanced might be questionable tho!

What I do if I"m concerned if a wheel will rub, is put tape on the caliper first. Thick tape will protect it and will tear first.

Yes sir, good idea. Nothing a grinder and Krylon can't fix.

When I get skinnies I want one of these as well, so I don't ding the paint in the calipers when installing the wheels.
