Pedders XA Coilovers Installation & Review

Pedders XA coilovers + kick ass alignment = SO MUCH FUN

Doing a ride height check - which is from the bottom of the rim to the top of the fender gap. Surprisingly, even with my split drop all four corners measured the same height.

Time to throw out those big ugly OEM shocks

So after the shock has been removed the rotor just kind of hangs there. It took us about 15 minutes and a few bungee cords before we figured out it'd be easier to use a jack stand.

This is the top of the shock tower. Now the white ring is addition on the 2011 camaros. Apparently the black cushion that the 2010's have aren't cushy enough for the coilovers. Now the problem is that the top of the coil over doesn't fit the new cushion.

Solution: dremel out part of the cushion so the coilover top fits.

Turns out the white cushion is actually removable and underneath it is the black cushion that fits the black cushion. Moving on.

Some pictures of the OEM shocks.......Lame

We're almost ready for install SO EXCITED

There installed

A quick pic of the new ride height. I decided to change the ride height a bit - I was scraping the front end more often than I liked. Ended up raising the front 5/8" and the rear 3/8". Which puts me at 7/8" in front and 5/8" in back. I really like it. I'll get some more photos in the morning that's a good profile shot. It was really weird driving Kaylee home though, I was so used to the "leaning forward" feeling that the new set up made me feel like I was driving a bike built by the guys from American Chopper.

Total time: a lot

The drive home was AWESOME. I had the highway pretty much to myself......so I might have had a little fun. It started out with just really aggressive lane changes, but that turned into me slaloming every third white dash. Don't worry though, I used my turn signals. Taking turns is like being on a roller coaster. Like when you go down the big drop and are going really really fast, then take a super sharp turn. So you keep moving forward but the car does the other way.

I got the coilovers installed at Back Street Performance in Ohio. The guys there are great, even put up with me hanging out with them in the shop and taking a ton of photos. From what I gathered its a father & son run shop, which to me means a lot. It's good to see that small mom & pop shops are still around and able to compete with some of the big companies. If you're in Ohio and ever need any kind of work done - Back Street Performance is the place to go

Moral of the story: XA coilovers are worth their weight in antimatter*

*current market price of antimatter is $62.5 trillion per gram

Coilovers are the way to go.

Where are the pics of your car after install?

Which settings did you start off with?

I'm assuming you've been through this thread

Coilovers are a night and day difference over even drop springs. Can't wait to see the new profile...

You'll love your xA's. =)

Slaloming between white lines with turn signals.

You will love the Xa's way better than drop springs. I does take a while to dial in the settings but after you do it is FUN. I would also recommend the pedders sways and sub frame inserts totally changes the car.

Because the coilover wouldn't fit on it. It's new to the 2011s

I have a set of these plus swaybars/endlinks to go on and I can't wait for the huge difference they will make!
Problem is,there is no authorized dealer/installer here in Wisconsin to install these parts plus a few more possibly(none that I am aware of anyways :()
And before anyone says "Install them yourself,it's easy" I am handicapped and unable to do so :(
The nearest dealer/installer that I can find is almost three hours away in IL.
