Which Route First?
Debating either a Circle D converter or Speed Engineering 2" headers with mid pipes first. I will have it tuned for E85 also at the same time on either route. Going with Pray for the tuning. Car is a 2016 2SS. Daily. Whatever I choose this round will last me awhile before I pull trigger on the other. Long term goal is decent cam and high ram. Car now has Rotofab only. I guess my question is this:
Which would be faster based on setup? -Rotofab, 2"headers, E85, tuned. -Stock manifolds, Rotofab, 4C (undecided) Circle D converter. And maybe cat delete? |

i wouldn't change the converter until necessary / doing heads / cam. So i would do headers, rotofab and e85 tune.

stock converter works fine for bolt-on cars. So do the other mods first.

+1 If you do a converter now it might need to be changed after you do a cam or other mods. Also, these LT motors make decent power down low compared to the LS stuff they replaced. You really don't need to launch them as deep in the power band. Go with the headers and flex fuel. You'll have more fun with the added power. Hit us up and we'll make sure you get the best price too. |

True points from all. With my previous vehicle the stall was by far my favorite upgrade even over bolt ons. Whatever I would go with stall now would be in prep for a cam later.
But after thinking more I'm just going to go ahead with 2" headers and mid-pipes. E85 and tuned. It'll keep me happy for a few months before I jump into something else to do. A little cheaper route, not as tough as install and it'll still be faster than I am now. Really hunting for 10's with some good seat time before a cam. |

Well, for the price of Speed Engineering 2" headers and mid pipe it's $575 from my dealer.. I don't want to have to stress over adapting the headers to stock mid pipes.

Any set of headers needs to cut into the stock mid pipe. There is no true connection point. But you really can't beat the Speed Engineering headers for bang for your buck. The stock mid pipe isn't restrictive for the stock power levels but once you start adding boost it'll hold you back. It has to many crushed down sections to be good for power.
