Unless GM is using the very latest Qi specs / hardware, charging your phone by cable is still going to be significantly faster, especially for those of us with Note type phones with large batteries, and 2A chargers. I haven't dug into the tech in the car, but WPC only came out with 15W wireless charging several months ago, so I'm not sure GM had time make the changes needed. If GM used an up to date Qi implementation, it could be around 60-70% as fast a cable charging (not including 2A / "Fast Charge" tech).

Exactly. More like trickle charging I'm betting.

Wireless charging is slower than a cable charger, especially compared to a fast charge cable/wired charger, but who cares really, it will work for me while I am in the car and to charge or top off the battery. The fast charge wireless chargers just started coming out, the Note 5 and the the S6 Edge + are the only 2 phones with built in fast charge wireless charging, but you need a fast charge wireless charger for that, which I doubt the Camaro is going to have...believe I read the Camaro pad is a QI charger

No cover. Would make it hard to easily grab the phone with it's position. Notice the rubber tabs appear to be what holds the phone in place. Just wondering how well it will work with oversized phones.

Hmm... So another question. Are there things UNSAFE to sit there? Like metal coins, AA batteries, etc... Idk how this wireless charging works and that just looks like a good spot to sit things for me! Lol plus Ill nevr have a wireless charging phone so long as the things continue the bigscreen tv progression.

Not really. It uses a field effect between two coils of wire (one in your phone, one in the car) to form a transformer to transfer power from your car to your phone.

Don't worry about putting anything in that tray, if it's not a coil of wire, it won't matter
