I'm surprised this is news to so many folks.

The sound tube is on every SS from 2016+ and there's a few intake kits that delete it (Rot-fab comes to mind)

I don't think its new news about the sound tube/delete to most but that little foam sound damper piece inside the tube is to me...

It is news to me, didn't know the car had a sound tube.
I will try taking the foam out to see what that sounds like.

I removed the foam on my '17 SS last night. It considerably increases the intake roar when you really get onto the gas. It surprised me what a difference it made.

Yep, it did the same thing for me. I'm pleased with the result; sounds much better during acceleration. The only negative I can hear is a funny noise in 6th gear tipping into the throttle from just under 2k rpm. But overall I'm happy with the change and will keep the foam piece removed from the sound tube.

Chevy put that sound tube in all the new Camaros, not just the SS. I know there's one in my V6 car.

I did this yesterday and yes I found the intake noise while not unpleasant - it drown out more of the exhaust sound than I prefer.

I found I do not like the part throttle noises so much. The full throttle intake sound is very loud and kind of cool but I prefer hearing the exhaust better.
So, I put the foam back into the tube.

I'm glad I tried it as now I know.

Agreed, I quite enjoy the sound tube since I get more intake/engine noise without having to spend money on an aftermarket intake/exhaust setup.

I just pulled the foam out of my sound tube and will test it out later today!

Got home and pulled it out, my piece of foam look like someone ripped it from a packing box, rainy day will see in the morning how it sounds...

Definitely not a cylinder shape as in the picture... Since I'm keeping 100% stock, I'm now complete.

I did this on my car and a friends all stock SS. Very much recommend this to anyone who is looking for a bit more noise. It definitely sounds like the improvement between stock air box and a cold air intake. The induction noise improves massively! I definitely think this will become as popular of a move as the old fuse pull trick.
