Trapping Low Speed With Big Power?
Ok guys, I've had my camaro for over a year now and finally got a daily so it was time to take the 5th gen to the track.
a little about the car: LS3 w/ comp cam, valve springs TR6060 D1SC Procharger running 9 PSI w/ 8 Rip pulley McLeod RXT twin disk clutch moser axles methanol injection system 92lb fuel injectors zl1 fuel pump hurst short throw shifter weld racing drag pack on Mickey Thompson E/T Streets ok so here is the problem... August last year the car made 697 hp and 618 FT LBS on a dino jet dino. Then in December made 707 hp and 627 ft/lbs on a different dino in the colder weather. I took it out to the track earlier this month and my best time was an 11.77 @ 120. Now I don't know about you but after comparing numbers with others on the forums, I am way off. heres some problems I think it may be: Spark plug blowout belt slip not enough fuel? tune? so along with those things, I have some questions. Can you hear belt slip? If it's tuned wrong, won't that affect power as well? I am thinking its not belt slip because the car just made big numbers but could something have gone wrong since then? heres my time slip info: r/t .097 60 ft 2.0 (i know its slow, trying to get my launch down) 330 5.20 1/8 7.75 1/8 mph 96.98 1000 9.92 1/4 11.77 mph 120.67 mph ranged from 117-120 I just want to go fast like the rest of you so please leave your hate at home. This is the first boosted car I have ever messed with so I am trying to learn everything I can. Any help is greatly appreciated |

May get more responses if this was in the drag section. Mods may move it there to help you out...

Ask the mods. They are the ones who move it. If you go to the main page, at the bottom it lists everyone logged on. If you see a name in red, that is a mod. PM them with your link to this thread and they can probably help...

This is why people data log. It is difficult to pay attention to the boost, air/fuel, spark retard, etc while driving down the track. 120mph is netting about 530-550 whp my guess.
Iat temps could be getting high and pulling timing, air fuel may be off. All speculation without more data or a data log.

I hate to say it but our times and power are very similar. I know why I am running those times. I don't beat the crap out of my clutch.
With your power and a M6, you should be running bias ply slicks. That and some seat time will improve your 60. After that, it is all in the shifts. We will never have times like the A6 as we can't shift as fast as a computer. My times: 60 - 1.59 1/8 - 7.48 @ 98 mph 1/4 - 11.24 @ 129 mph |

You're about 5-7 mph slow. Where are you shifting? You want to be over 6K for your shifts and smooth. Short shifting will kill your speed.

700 whp should net around 130mph from my experience

Shifting at lower RPM's. Staying out of the power band by shifting too soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
