Cam swap with stock internals?

Im thinking of the ls9 cam, are there any other cams out there sound stock and dont have to change any thing but the cam it self? My car is dd and around here a cam install is around $200 and im planning to sell the car in a year so im not interested in big cams and can't put a choppy cam around here. Any recommendations?

ls9 cam is a forced induction cam. your not gonna see a big difference with that swap. if your selling why not just leave it stock? and where do you live that wont allow choppy cam?

You will gain maybe 20hp MAX from that cam. It is a whole lot of work for such a little gain.

if your having plans to sell it in a year...just leave it stock.

every cam swap is going to require other things be changed.

Exactly, leave it stock, makes it easier to sell anyway.

Also, a cam change itself isnt inherently louder, I don't see why you cant have a choppy cam anywhere.

This is about your only option at this price point.

The LS9 cam will be soggy on the bottom compared to the stock cam.

Leave it stock if your going to sell it.

Ted.

My car is not stock it has cai, headers, pully, tb, fast manifold, cat back. Im selling the car in a year, but $350 for an ls9 installed is a good deal for 20-30 hp in my case.

Yeah but the power and torque may not be where you want it, peak HP is not the most important factor here.

And you have bolt-ons, that's close enough to stock. In this thread everyone is kinda meaning stock to be no internal engine mods.

If you must go that route buy a used LS7 cam. Its got a little tighter LSA and will not be as soft on the bottom. If you dont mind some lope buy the Lingenfelter GT1 or Lunati 217/228 cam. Will make more power across the board and is a drop in. Remember you need a 3 bolt timing gear no matter what you run.

If that 20-30 HP gain is above 5500 RPMs, then you'll almost never see the benefit of the cam swap. If you lose power below 3500 RPMs (VERY possible), you'll be pissed that you wasted the $350.....

Not nearly enough info to give you a thumb's up or thumb's down.

You might want to consider this route if you absolutely MUST do a cam.

Personally......I would leave it alone....but that's just me.
