Pulling the LS3 out through the top

Anyone here pulled the motor with cherry picker vs dropping the entire cradle? I don't have a lift and I am starting a swap in the next couple weeks just want to make sure I am not setting myself up for failure
.

Out the top is the way to go. Very easy.

Get the TPIS Happy Hooker Lift Plate - made it a lot easier http://www.tpis.com/parts/view/67

On 5th Gens out the top is easier, its not like a 4th gen where out the top is nearly impossible.

Automatic yes and leave the trans in the car.

Manual Pull the trans and clutch first, then pull the engine.

Ted.

I just supported the trans from underneath and left everything connected from the transmission back. Pulled out complete engine minus headers and intake manifold. Came right out the top with no issues whatsoever.

This is exactly what I did and left the clutch/pressure plate attached to the motor.

I left the trans in and pulled from the top. if i had to do it again id pull the trans 1st. Its a pain getting it back in with the trans in there.

I don't know about that. Wasn't much of a pain getting my engine to slide onto the trans.

I'd much rather slide the engine onto the trans than pull the exhaust and transmission (and reinstall) while my car is on jack stands in the garage. I've done it before by myself and it SUCKS.
