I was wondering if this would have any impact on the ECU ? I could just imagine my local dealer giving me BS on how these products can harm the system.

This changes nothing within the ECU itself, it modifies how the pedal sends voltage to the ECU that is still within range of the stock variances. It simply changes how much and how quickly it is sent.

Does this eliminate the dead zone of the gas peddle? there is a few centimeters of play that does nothing when the gas peddle is depressed, and I want to get rid of it, and I'm hoping this does that for me. ?

The Controller will not eliminate the mechanical play in the pedal itself. I don't know if there is a adjustment for it or not. I have the same thing. Will take a look at it on Saturday on how to eliminate the the play.

bummer. I hate that play, it makes starting off feel unnatural with the manual.

I get the feeling that the dead zone or non-linear behavior of the peddle is a safety feature to eliminate the chance that a oem throttle could be on the upper end of tolerance and put out voltage while the peddle isn't being pressed. (wild guess)
In either case, it feels very non-linear until you are pushing the peddle passed it. Like you push down and nothing, then you get a little something but then it just goes straight to "i'm alive" as you try to compensate for the car not moving as much as you expect it to. It feels less like the part has play and more like the ECU is tuned to respond that way. I'd expect this throttle addon to mask that behavior since the amount of peddle travel is reduced so it would be harder to put the peddle in that initial range with that behavior. |

I just learned the throttle pedal and base are a unit that is very easily removed. On the base of the throttle assembly, pop off the rubber cover and remove the 10mm bolt. slide the whole assembly back about 1/2" and it's freed from the floor.
Now you can easily access the plug and wiring you need to replace for the VTC installation. |

Can I set this up once, then forget about it? Or do I have to adjust the level each startup? In other words, say I set it to SP5 will it stay there forever unless I change it? I ask this as it will determine where I mount the unit.

The setup is once when you install it. The SP setting is a quick push of the buttons after that.

I understand that the initial setup is a one-time thing. Do I have to set the SP level each and every time I start the engine?

Not. It will stay at whatever setting you last left it.

Here in Vegas one of our club members kept throwing codes. He said it was this throttle controller and kind of stopped me from ordering one. The dealer told him after they reset his codes twice now, one more time and they wont fix it. He told me they knew (even though he removed the vitesse) that he was using one, as the computer reports when something is plugged in?????
Still on the fence. I want one, but I don't want codes, and I don't want threats of things not getting fixed under warranty. Suggestions?
