New life for Camaro left for dead

Well I’m pretty happy with my 2nd Gen 6 Camaro I bought sight unseen at a Copart auction in December for $7,300 including taxes and auction fees. I thought it would be a fully gutted track car with a roll cage, but when I saw the condition it was in and that it was a 2SS I decided against it, for now at least.

I’ve decided to give it to my son who turns 16 in June. He has been racing since he was 4 1/2 years old and currently races a Pro Late Model. This car bears some resemblance to his race car which is kind of cool. Will probably do some performance mods down the road, keeping the drivetrain stock for now. We did put the GM performance suspension kit (FE4) on which drastically improved the handling and ride is great.

This is beyond amazing, thank you for rejuvenating a 6th gen Camaro so beautifully. Your kids are looking great in racing gear, they're blessed to have you as their dad

Maybe one of the best stories I’ve seen, cars, kids and racing. And great job putting that SS back together

Very impressive rebuild on the car and the boys are lucky to have you as their Dad. Good luck in the future.

Great story. Congratulations.
Many of us would appreciate a thread about the restoration and modification of the 6gen Camaro.

Ha, I had a good race against Brad a few months back on iRacing! Very cool project there - always good to see a nice car like that brought back from the dead. Good luck with the LM racing in 2022!
