Exhaust leak between cats and AWE cat back bad?
Hey everyone, I just installed my new AWE Track Edition Cat Back on my 2020 SS 1LE. I have a mild exhaust leak at the join between the awe system and the secondary cat on the passenger side. I wanted to know if this is worth fixing. I can't seem to get the leak to stop by adjusting the pipe, so my last resort was going to be to weld it. Any ideas?

Well there's nothing good about an exhaust leak, so if it was me I would fix it.

They actually recommend using exhaust sealer on the slip joints, don't weld it it will rust off in that area S/S or not. https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-Muff...omotive&sr=1-2

I agree with sealing it.
This what I have used to seal exhaust joints: https://www.amazon.com/Permatex-8187...79&sr=8-2&th=1 |

Let's just say it's not good. If your body is perfectly sealed and if you never drive around with your windows down you just might be safe from a leak. Best case you can smell it. Worst case? That's where it's not good.
Get it addressed.

Definitely seal it. Just use some Permatex Exhaust sealant.
I just had a loose rear O2 sensor and it played havoc with all of my O2 sensors causing my car to throw several codes. |
