Flowing water sound at idle

I’m assuming it’s coolant related, and the car as pretty much always done this so I’m not concerned, but my 3 year old fell asleep in the car and so I sat there idling for a while and I really paid attention to the sound for the first time.

It comes and goes every ten seconds or so, and lasts about 15 seconds. Is this just coolant running through the engine? I’m idling around normal operating temp. (Tried attaching a video but it doesn’t seem to like the format)

Check the coolant overflow tank. If it's low you can hear that sound. My wife's CTS with the 2.0T was making it and I just filled the tank to the recommended level. Sound went away.

I would bet you are low on A/C refrigerant and you are hearing gurgling across the expansion valve.

The A/C doesn't have to be low to make that sound, it will do it when the compressor cycles off.

Never heard of that issue. Do you live near a creek or stream?

In one of the biggest “duh” moments of my life, I turned the climate control off and the sound stopped…
