Expensive fluid changes and outrageous pricing on aftermarket builds, if you need to hold more power than factory. Sure, you can change the fluid yourself if you want to deal with the headache of the procedure. You have to get the fluid to a specific temp range, etc. That’s a hard pass for me. I looked into them briefly when I was shopping for a VW TDI...ended up opting for the 6 speed manual.

The sportier version of my car (Leon Cupra) has the exact same engine (2.0L) and DSG (Wet 6-Speed, DQ250) as I.E. the Audi S3, VW GolfR up to MY 2017or18 and this DQ250 box is also on the VW Golf GTI in these years. Engine in the Golf GTI is also an E888 Gen.3 2.0L, but has a slightly smaller IHI Turbo; IS-20. The Cupra, GolfR and Audi S3 have the larger IS-38 Turbo. |

I dont think those who haven't driven know what they are missing out on - 8 millisecond upshifts and downshifts at any RPM

I would love to have that shifter conversion for my 1LE. I daily this sucker but, I enjoy some very spirited driving episodes. At $2400, I don't think it's too expensive or unreasonable. However, I don't think that they are available for our cars or currently work with our setup. I saw a forum post or YouTube comment elsewhere about how the shifter linkage on our cars are different and therefore, it doesn't work in its current form.

there are only a few ways to get a real sequential trans -spend $20+K modifying your car and probably destroying the interior -buy a clk gtr -buy an ascari a10 -buy an atom 500 -build a locust 7 with a bike motor/trans -and I guess a couple smaller low production cars like lotus and ultima I have been wanting a real sequential for along time |

And yes, I've driven plenty of dual clutch trans cars. But I don't own a single one.. for a reason.

Me too, but I made the mistake of buying a BMW M2 with the DCT before my 1LE. It was the most disappointing and boring car I ever owned - as exciting to drive as my 87-year-old mother’s Altima - so I sold it after 9 months.

I was always under the impression that the M2 is a fun and agile car to drive. Glad to understand that the 1LE is so much better / fun |

I have a supercharged 1LE and a tuned F80 M3 DCT. You must have had some really exciting cars prior to the M2 to say that it was the most disappointing and boring car you've ever had. It is not comparable to an Altima.

My wife has an SMG M3. Hate it. I spent a lot of time and energy learning to properly operate 3 pedals. Heel and toeing and properly rev matching in all circumstances is a skill, so is launching with the proper amount of torque/throttle and clutch engagement.
There is something special about a car that is only offered in a true 3-pedal manual. The S2000, Viper, 1LE, and a few others belong to this elite club and if the 1LE left that club, she'd lose a large part of the charm that makes me love her. I don't care how fast a computer-controlled transmission shifts, its boring.

FYI - the VW group (VW / Porsche / Audi / Lamborghini / Bughatti) DCT technology is on the next planet vs the other builders. They started developing the technology in the early 80s (S1 Audi) and they won't share / sell the technology.

There is a reason that Motortrend used the V6 1LE against the M2 in their Head2Head comparison instead of the SS 1LE. The contest would be over before it began against the SS 1LE.
