Manual to TH400 swap

Anyone done this swap? I am about to attempt it. Already purchased the trans, converter, and flexplate. I know someone who went from the A8 to a TH400 but not from a M6. Just looking for some insight as to how difficult it was and such. Mine is a manual valve body so shouldn't be too crazy.

I think you're the first bro. Things that I can think of that may be a problem would be a way to get speed output data, and possibly issues with torque management. On anouther note, how do you like that hood?

Freaking love this hood.

Secondly I am purchasing a module to plug into the clutch sensor that tricks the computer into thinking the stock trans is still there. There isn't a whole lot of torque management with the manual anyway but the module will take care of the rest.

I know I'm not the first TH400 swap but not sure if I'm the first manual guy to do it.

Yeah. I think you're the first manual guy to swap also. Then I may be able to use the same module for my 4l80 swap

Our white Magnuson Camaro has already done the swap. Its a lot of work and cost, so many changes to the drivetrain to make the swap.

Since you have a 1LE, you also have eLSD, so being able to marry a TH400 with that and the 3.73 rear might be a challenge.

I have wondered about swapping to a a10, but everyone on the forum seems to think that would be too costly.

The trans will just marry to the drive shaft which will marry to the rear. should change anything. It will bolt right up to the 3.73

So far it really hasn't been as costly as I thought. Can you shed some light on what challenges you guys ran into? As well as what parts you used, i.e. what trans cooler are you guys using?

Ok guys the flexplate came in the mail a few days ago. Still waiting on the converter and trans which should ship in the next few days. I will be dropping all my motor stuff off at the machine shop monday to get balanced for the new internals.

What I have got so far:
1200hp rated TH400 with LS bell and trans brake, PTC torque converter, and flywheel purchased all together - $3730 shipped
Transmission mount - $40
Computer mondule - $200
Hurst quarter stick shifter - $348

Things I still need:
Driveshaft and yolk - $350
Transmission cooler - $???

The trans is a reverse manual valve body so I will still be shifting gears which I like. I also have to decide how I am going to monitor my speed. Probably do a wheel speed sensor or get the driveshaft RPMs so my speedometer gauge will still work.

Is this going to be a dedicated race car or will you drive it on the street also?
