Ours had some kind of rattling issue when it was new, but I think it was fixed under warranty. Drove it last weekend with the top up and windows down and all was good.

Haven't had any issues with my top on the 2017 Fifty Edition. Built 9/29/16 with a little over 10k miles. Drop the top whenever I can.

I came here expecting a poll.
May 2017 build, brought The Mistress home in July 2017 with 5 miles on the odo. Not a single issue with the top (or anything else on the car) in 14 months and nearly 5k miles of weekend warrioring. Top goes down at least once every time the car is driven. |

9500 miles and 2 years of use on mine. No issues. 2016.
Seems like a pretty solid design. Better than the E93 BMW I had before it. I’m sure a few percentile have issues. Like many things. Not sure how many they are making in convertible. |

2017 Fifty, built in June 2016, in its rightful place since Feb 2017. About 17,800 miles on it. Only issue I have had is dealer replaced the trunk separator thing (it was a TSB)without me asking them to when it was in for an oil change. Since then I've had 4 or 5 instances where the separator has dropped and I couldn't lower my top until I snapped it into place. EXACTLY the problem the TSB was s'posed to fix. I didn't have the problem until they "fixed" it.

I now have the retractable flap issue on the driver side. The flap gets hung up opening and closing and makes a loud noise as the roof mechanism moves. I know others have had this issue. What was the repair? I’m calling the dealership tomorrow...

Have had mine since Labor Day 2016. Just under 19,500 miles. It's my daily driver. If it's dry out and above 50°F and below 100-102°F, then the top is down, so the top is down quite often. Only issue I've had is the driver side retractable panel doesn't fully close when the top is lowered. A quick tap, or sometimes a bump in the road, gets it to pop into place. If I manually pull it back and let it go, it snaps into place. Something about the slow movement while the top is being lowered causes it to hang up.

They replace the whole panel. My passenger side grenaded bout 2 months ago. The dealership replaced both at the same time. They don't fool with tops so it was sent out to a private business. Took the guy all of 10 minutes to replace both sides.

Only real issue I've had is the passenger side retractable panel obstructing the top from closing; the part was replaced under warranty. Other than that just some minor squeaks when hitting bumps or potholes, I blame the Michigan roads more than the design of the top though. 21K miles so far.

2018, picked up in late June. Not my DD, have about 4000 miles on it and use the top almost every time I take it out for a spin. No problems. Crossing fingers.

About 20K. Had the flap issue quite some time ago. Warranty repair. Working flawlessly since. Really the least of the problems with the car (Tranny/TC Shudder, Rear Diff Groan).

2nd vert I've owned. 2010 GT500 had much simpler mechanicals, no issues.
This ZL1 has more moving parts but so far has proven issue free. However, because of its relative complexity, I purchased the expensive 4 year extended warranty. |
