He told me 950 on my build, we got 1044.
Yeah, don't worry, I've noticed his theme...

With the few extra things we are doing, we should be over 800, but I'm not planning on swapping pulleys this time around, so will be fairly low boost - Matt says around 16-17Psi.

Once I get bored of this, we will just pulley it down for more boost - I will already have all the supporting mods needed.

Low boost at 16-17psi.

Which blower are you running? Did you go all forged internals?

there ya go. Yea, i think you have all the supporting mods for now. Next step is 1000 hp and u gonna need to go way down on the pulley and run meth. I forgot, u running meth right now or no?

If you ever need motivation to continue your build, we'll run just to see how bad I gap you. lol. Then you'll be like, nope, Matt, nope. This ain't working.

That's what happened to me. I was at 803. Got absolutely destroyed running with the N. Side guys. I was the slowest car in the group. That night at 2 am, I told Matt, fuk it, let's go big. So, yea. Here we are.

Hahaha.. I'm not sure about that.. Honestly, I may make a run at a drag strip one day but this is just a fun weekend car for me and the family so it is already getting a bit extreme

I'm really happy about my choice of Whipple vs PC, not that your car is short on Torque, but mine should have a huge area under the curve, which is the most fun part IMHO. You only need to look at my current fleet to know that I'm a torque junky, I only have one car that seriously makes NO TRQ at all.

Where you want to hook on a roll, I want to spin the tires at will in pretty much any gear

Good luck running 16psi on a stock bottom end. That's where @Laynlo saw the seals getting blown out...albeit, he does put his miles on the odometer 1/4 mile at a time on full blast.

Would love to see you get that sled down the track. Maybe a whipple blown car can crack the top 5-6 on the fast list. Over 800whp, it should be able to happen. I cant wait to see some videos of 16psi hauling out. That will be bad a$$.

Sounds like a PCV problem. Scott is running 23-24psi on SBE with no issues so far.

Its going to make a fun weekend street car for sure

Yeah, I suspect it all comes down to how you drive it. My car is the same way. I use it when the weather is nice and I can have the top down...mostly going to the golf course or cruising around with my kids on short drives. I will probably hit the track periodically just for fun.

On street tires, the difference between 700hp and 1000hp is nothing because neither will have traction and by the time they do it would be way beyond safe on the street...but I am like you, I rather enjoy breaking the tires loose at 40-50 for fun.

We do see how the Whipple with a cam and built engine performed with Sledgehammer's car at the Camarofest recently. . .so you should have a good feel for what's possible. Looks like he's the fastest Whipple car with a recorded time.

How are you guys hooking on the street with this much power? I am on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S's, and with my embarrassingly low RWHP and TRQ numbers, I slide a bit much for my comfort in any mode other than track mode.

Eagerly following your build. I have seen a number of SS verts with nice builds, both locally and on the forum, (all of whom quickly run into the same issues regarding the need for fuel and cooling upgrades, etc) but very few ZL1 verts have I seen go all out.

If some of my business ventures take off, should free up some extra cash to follow your footsteps

I have Toyo R888R's on just now. They hook a lot better than stock, especially from a roll but I'm still only 650whp.

Scott is on DR's but had to install all BMR rear suspension to stop the rear from wandering around past 100mph.

Once this next round is done, I wont be doing anything else for a while. This will put me at enough HP that the next steps will need a built block and/or at least $5k or more on the fuel system.

Depending on what boost level we reach, there may be a new pulley in my future but that will be it.

Matt tells me my new Cam and TB came in yesterday.. Starting to collect parts

I am also running the zl1 fuel system + the boost a pump. If I want to go more, my next steps would be to add an ancillary fuel system and alky injection (or race fuel on my system). I probably should have gone with the Lingenfelter pump (instead of the ZL1 in-tank pump), but I saw some problems with different cam configurations so I went with the ZL1 pump.

Right now, we are yet to see any of the crazy high HP systems getting times to brag about in the track, right? so I will probably sit tight before going above 800whp. Figure that on a hard top it takes about 700whp to run in the 9's. On a vert, I figure 750whp should be really close to running 9's. I have no desire to try and go faster.

From a street tire perspective, I anticipate switching to DR's or like Ricco, the R888R with an extra set of 17 drag radials for occasional trip to the strip.
