The wait is almost over (for those of you waiting).

I have one of the early hoods installed on my car currently. It can be seen on by build journal https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...=519264&page=5

Something's to note.
1) Hood is 100% aluminum and much lighter than OEM SS. I am not sure what the center insert is constructed of as of yet.
2) The smoked/clear insert will not be available as of yet. They are still perfecting it. I currently have their painted version on mine (but will be getting the clear when available).
3) This hood does not require hood pins. It utilizes the OEM latch on the car and has it's own stop already on the hood.
4) This hood also utilizes the OEM hinges.
5) The hood vents are present along front edge of insert, however there is no rain catch pan to divert water. That said, it has been on my car for a month, in the weather, with no issues as of yet. Word is AA is developing something for this currently for those that want it.
6) Hood fit well right out of the box. I adjusted my latch up a tiny bit, and bump stops down on passenger side and now have a perfect fit.
7) Hood comes primered in a satin black, and the painted insert is Gloss Black.
8) Price is not set, however is rumored to be around $1200.
9) AA is rumored to place this in stock and for sale after SEMA. I would expect a limited number to be available and shipping mid November.

I hope this helps anyone interested.

I guess American authority doesn’t want to give any answers to anyone’s questions. I appreciate you coming on here and atleast giving us some sort of answers. Thank you. So they’re not releasing the smoked/clear center just yet?did they have an estimated time on that? Is that center peice removable?

I don't believe American Authority is a member of this forum or visits here, so answers would come primarily from customers such as myself. From what I understand they are still developing the smoked/clear center piece (trying to get the material formula just right to assure it can withstand high heat of the engine and sun/elements without causing issues to clarity and shape.) and will release it at another date. I just have no idea what that date is. That said, yes, the center piece is removable, it will actually come uninstalled when the hood arrives and will be interchangeable with the smoked/clear version when available.

Wow this hood definitely looks good. And YES! Aluminum. This would put and end to thinking of CF hoods, FG hoods, etc...

Taste is subjective for sure. I don't agree or use some of their items (vette rear bumper and fender vents), but some of their stuff has made standing out and placing in car shows a bit easier if that's your thing (it's currently mine).

That said I have tried some of their things (rear window louvers, tow hook, fender vents, and currently this hood) more as a service to others to test the products since I'm local and have easy access. I don't keep all items installed if they don't fit my tastes and thankfully, everything is easily removable to go back to stock.
