I know this thread started years ago, but just go ahead post here.

Dexos 2 ( Not Dexos1 Gen 2) from “locally”, not online order like Motul or some other brands.
- Pennzoil 5w30 Euro L at Walmart for cheap.
- Havoline 5w40 Euro at Napa ( I believe Havoline/Chevron makes great oil and inexpensive like Valvoline MST.)

Im sure Amsoil and Valvoline MST 5w40 also can found easily at NAPA.

The thing against that is it is 5w-30 NOT 0w-40 dexos2 which is the only street to track oil that Chevy says is ok.

I do not know where you do get that Chevy says only use 0w40? But it is wrong.

Street or track 0w-40.
Here it is in the 2019 owners manual.

5W-30 dexos1 = street (not enough protection for track use)
5W-40 dexos2 = track (long term street use possibly harmful to cats?)
0w-40 dexos2 = both (new for 2019 but retro to earlier years, hard to find so far)

What would be considered "long term" use? I switched to 5W-40 MST for a track day that got cancelled, so I wanted to get some use out of it and left it in for awhile.

Valvoline 5w40 MST is fine for track and street. No need to drain. It is specified in the '17-18 1LE owners manual. Maintains warranty. I've been using it for the last two oil changes, oil temp stays well below red when the car is being pushed. No dip stick perceptible oil use at all. I'm very happy with this oil

Oh, ok. So, only the 15W50 is not for street use?

Yes, not for street use as it is not Dexos certified.

That link is now dead. But lucky for us, the Internet Archive has our backs:

I know I'm super late to this but does anyone have a link to where I can buy a cap for my SS that has the 0-40 on it instead of the factory?
