Break Failure

My breaks failed today.

I was driving between 25-35mph when I lost about 60% of breaking power. This almost caused me to crash into the vehicle I front of me but thank god they sped up. I pulled over and the breaks came back and I saw a "service break assist" when I tried to break again it felt like my breaks were slapping the rotors and bouncing off over and over. Strong vibration and sound

I turned the car on and off and everything was normal again

I have this documented with pictures and video of the sound

Luckily I was near my dealer so The car is parked on the street and I will take it in tomorrow morning

I've lost all confidence in this car I can't drive it without thinking it's gonna kill me

F*ck

EDIT...
Here is the video

Brakes... The fact that you stated that when you restarted the car and the brakes started to operate normally again leads me to believe you had a problem with the brake controller or some other electronic component of the braking system. Is your brake fluid reservoir full of fluid?

Please let us know what you learn.

Here is the video

This is the sound the breaks started making during light acceleration after the breaks came back

Lots of vibration like the rotors and pads were bounding off one another

If my dealer says "cannot duplicate" tomorrow I will lose my shit.

BRAKES, not Breaks. Sorry. Its possible there may be a caliper issue.

That pulsating feel is what the ABS feels like. If the brake booster failed then maybe the ABS controller is programmed to engage? Not sure but I would not drive it until the root cause is identified.

Thats not good!! I keep reading more and more issues with the 6th Gen SS... It's disappointing. I wonder if the 5th Gen had this many problems in the beginning?

My 2011 only had top and leaking issues. Mechanical, it was great.

Something similar happened to me a while back. That same warning came on and the brake pedal felt jittery. Fortunately I was just parking my car.
After 20 mins, I restarted the car and everything was okay. No warnings no issues at all.
Its been about 5 months since that happened. Did not see the same issue again.

I am guessing something to do with battery voltage or something.....

all the best!

The vehicle has been delivered to the service department at Keyes Chevrolet in Van Nuys California.
