That sounds like an awful lot for a converter change. Did you pull the pan too?

pretty sure I had 6qts on hand and it was enough.

you want to dump what you can in the converter before you put it in. then dump all the rest of the 6qts in the trans while it is down. then after everything is installed get it up to the specified temp and pull the stand tube plug to let the excess run out. people bitch about filling these but once you know how to do it it's not so bad.

there is some interesting stuff in here like the temp you should be checking it at>> https://www.atra.com/Webinars/GM/8L90_Introduction.pdf

Yes, I didn't see any reason to keep the possibly contaminated fluid. I had an entire fluid flush, new filter and converter done at the same time.

Yeah I just had the dealer flush mine but I may do it again. Good idea on the fluid fill,I have an electric fluid pump I was gonna try to use but that sounds like a good idea.Just sent my tcm to hp tuners to be unlocked gonna get my new stall installed just got my headers back from jet hot. Then I'll get with pray and hopefully he can get it dialed in for me. Thanks for the replies.
