22 LT1 M6 Vert to 23 ZL1 A10 Vert

I just broke 36,000 miles on my Hot Red 22’ LT1 M6 Vert. It is well optioned with the Recaro seats, the Bose sound system, black wheels, dual mode exhaust, red seat belts, and red knee pads. I certainly have driven it daily and on long trips and love to shift gears. Often I slowly cruise at 55mph to see 35mpg and sometimes I speed up to 120mph to avoid aggressive tailgaters when needed. My main reasons to upgrade are for the better brakes, the wider wheel base, the improved suspension, the ventilated seats, the new factory warranty, and of course the added power. Trouble is, I cannot find a M6 ZL1 vert, especially in red hot. The salesmen really think I will enjoy the A10 but I am on the fence about it. I feel I would be disconnected from the raw power of the car…plus it prevents “pals” from trying to drive it. Anyone else make the same jump?

No regrets at all, its one fast Mother F..........

You can't outshift the computer, but M6 definitely has the fun factor! No Question!

If anyone, especially a salesman, tells me I would like a automatic transmission I would have to laugh.

Unless you just love to shift gears, I expect the A10 would be the better choice for a daily driver. My 1LE is M6 and I wouldn't have it any other way. But it's not my daily driver. On top of that today’s automatics are just so good.

Your warranty is the M6... It won't break or leave you stranded. You can always skip the bad gear or drive it slow if the clutch is shot.
Besides engine issues the car is solid with your config. Keep it.

Rent a A10 on turo and drive it for a week to see how it feels. Those dealership test drive are too short to make a decision.

Great advice guys. My original Tremec 3060 in my first Camaro, an 1LT V6 M6 did fail due to a lack of transmission fluid but that car was bought used and I never thought to check the fluid until it was too late. Yet, swapping the tranny certainly was a quick job for a skilled mechanic. I do prefer the simplicity of the manual design and often shift it into 3rd or 4th gear to have some fun. Why does the Automatic with 10 gears, which should be more fuel efficient, have a higher “gas guzzler tax” ? In addition to the Camaros, my background of manuals includes a 4-speed VW Type 2 Bus and a Harley Davidson V-rod 5 speed. I do understand that the A10 shifts fast but will I be happy with it as if I am thinking of breaking up with a transmission. At first with my V6, I was always asked if it was the V8…now with my V8 LT1, I am often asked if it is the ZL1 variant. My current Camaro has been solid, certainly not a “lemon.” I do want the LT4, as I have read much about it being a marvel of engineering, certainly not a “need,” however. Below are a few photos, I drove the tail of the dragon earlier this year!

The 10 speed paired with the LT4 is a beautiful combination.

I have to agree here! The kitty cats and horseys struggle to catch/keep up, don't they?! Oh, and God forbid they try to follow us around a corner!!! Haha. We ALL know how that ends!

And if you buy a ZL1 they're going to ask you if it is a manual, when you say automatic you see their face like "I knew it, it isn't a real muscle car"

If you really like the car it doesn't matter what they say.

Do the ZL1 verts have the same 155mph limit?
