6 button smart key fob cover
Why is it impossible to find a nice key fob for the vert? Does anyone have any? Pics and links please. I really would like a hard case with the quick release key chain.

This is not for a 6 button. Will a regular one fit the convertible key?

Did you follow the link in the body of the video that I posted? Did you go look at the details of the listing? And look at the pictures?

Your owner's manual has similar info that would help, too.

Hey Ember! Very good find (and video) you've got there. Though I have to say I was chuckling when you were trying to remove the mold from the box... with one hand!
I will probably buy at least one, not so much to tell the fobs apart, but because in one of my fobs the detent must be broken (came from the selling dealer like that), so the emergency key always wants to slide out. Simply putting tape across the top is, like, low end, so this'll be the way to go. Thanks for posting!

My cover is about 2.5 years old and is holding up well for me. I mean... the car has less than 10k miles on it, only gets driven during about half of the year, never sees rain, etc. So, that key spends far more time on the shelf than in my pocket. One of the things some people actually don't like about those covers is that you have to remove the cover to get the key out, so I think it will address your issue for you. But, you might also want to take the fob apart and see if you can at least tell whether it's actually broken or not... Pop it open as if you were going to replace the battery. |

Hey there,
Good call, and yep, I had already opened up the fob to investigate what was wrong. I don't recall exactly but it was either that the spring was missing, or the plastic tab/detent thingy had, in fact, snapped off. Isn't really a big deal, but then the fob cover you found addresses it much better, more easily, and somewhat stylishly, than trying to work out a homemade fix. Take care.

I had hard case first, then a softer one that only covered the back and the sides, then finally, once the top layer over buttons started to scrape and peel, switched to a full silicone cover and never looked back.
It's perfect, does not attenuate the wireless signal, it's unobtrusive and offers full protection. Here is the kind of cover I'm thinking of (mine is made for the coupe, but this one is for the vert): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0837NCQ23/

Besides - one of the reasons I bought the one I did is to match (sort of) the color of the car (white). I don't really ever use the remote for anything at much distance, so I can't say if it interferes with the signal at all. Since putting in the SmarTop module, open the roof from a distance is super easy. I couldn't get that to work reliably using the built-in method/system while standing right next to the car... |

Hey Arpad, stop trying to distract me from buying this thing! I mean, the red version even looks almost EXACTLY like "our" Garnet Red Metallic. Question for the experts: if I get one, can I include it as a "mod" in my sig?
