To use a chamois or a drying towel? What's the best way to prevent scratches?

I hear people say how using a chamois is the best method for drying a car. then some people say how this method can scratch a car.

then others say using a drying towel like this one http://www.griotsgarage.com/product/...ortby=ourPicks
works better and doesn't scratch because it's suppose to catch any surface dust or dirt that might have floated on the paint surface through the air.

so what do the pros say? use a chamois or go with the drying towel like what's shown above?

Neither. Both will scratch.

Check out JunkMan's videos. I personally use an electric leaf blower.

Use a microfiber drying cloth like the ones at Detailer's Domain or Adam's and spritz the surface with detail spray before you dry. That will help. You can do the leafblower beforehand or use the hose to "sheet" the water off the car so there is less for the towel to pick up.

I agree with this. Although, I use the hose and follow it up with the leafblower to help with drying with an Adam's MF towel.

but if you don't have a leaf blower you'll have to do it manually...

Kinda gives a new meaning to having a 'Blown' V8

You guys have a model of electric leafblower that you like? How many mph should you be looking for? I used my gas one a couple of times and really didn't like it.

I don't remember the brand of my pops' leafblower, but I think that it is rated at 220mph. It may be a Craftsman though.

Yeah, stay away from gas blowers because they are going to be shooting smoke particles onto your freshly washed car.

I use a chamois. I hate microfiber towels. Last time I used one it left little particles on the car and it gets really wet and heavy. You gotta flip it around to get a dry spot after you get one side of the car done. I threw that crap to the side and only use it to dry my wheels now. Chamois ftw!!
