Maximum units 2500 and a price tag of 75 grand minimum.

Wasn't that the original fifth gen z28 price and unit volume,

It was only when GM decided to open up production to meet supposed demand that left a few z28 s lingering on dealer lots..

I wouldn't be surprised to see GM go 80 grand and slightly less units....

This new ZL1 1LE will crush a fifth gen z28 on the track....

All great cars...just my opinion

Lots of dealers are MSRP only and that's where I shop, but I'm glad you brought up the Z/28 as there is no way this goes that way.
It's obvious they learned and fixed that with this one.

Everything done here counters what happened with the Z/28.

1) Limited Production
2) Creature comforts -(lots of them)
3) Super expensive CC brakes = no
4) 19" wheels w/ widest possible tires
5) LT4 - most powerful engine in the lineup
6) Adjustable dampers

This thing SCREAMS don't repeat Z/28 issues and gives the consumer what they've been asking for and/or modding to.

The Z/28 did have dry sump though.

Do we know the ZL1/1LE does NOT have dry sump?

If it's a limited run of say 2500 a year. Man, it's a toughy. I don't think they can do $80k. So, as some mentioned, low $70k. I don't see $69,995 or some pricing like that. Def in the $70k range. But, it's just a damn guess. Who knows.

We haven't had any confirmation one way or the other...but there have been comments earlier when the ZL1 came out that dry sump wasn't used due to fitment issues.

This car will cost between 70k - 75k and with the dealer "bend over" charge will be unobtainable for most of us. Yeah sure some will luck out and find one at MSRP but the dealer mark ups will be the norm. Especially if production is limited.

Shame cause I like this version of the ZL1, save for the extra front air foils and large rear wing. Hopefully the extra track aerodynamic bits can be left in the trunk for the owner to install on days they track it.

I agree. But I think you may have left out one thing. I can't help but think you have to pay for the badge too, perhaps?

I would look to the V6, and SS 1LE packages to judge that...

It's a track car they should offer the CCB's.

I see no need for limited production, especially being that it's just a package. Maybe the first to be produced will be for customers who order it like they had to with the current ZL1 and then they will allow dealers to keep a low number in stock, stopping production of the package until it is necessary to produce more. That would be easy and efficient, but nothing Chevy would ever do. As for the price, $8000 seems reasonable.

Carbon Ceramics cost around $5000 on the Z07, and Chevy said that the ZL1's 6-piston brakes meet every standard and requirement they set. The CCBs cost a lot to replace, too, so track days would get expensive
