Might sell my '23 ZL1 vert with 486 miles

Thinking about it - might now if values are strong enough, or wait till Spring (still have original steering wheel and shift knob)...

Value for verts never as strong as hard top but the manual is a plus …it may go up in collector value… may go down.

They are hot right now…. What did you want?

Edit: is that an auto or manual?

If you don't have to, why would you? Enjoy it if you can.

I always though that Convertibles commanded more money when sold?

They certainly cost more money to buy new....

Depends on the market but convertibles cost more because of the extra parts required to make that top move, they also lose value faster because those parts wear out and the tops deteriorate much faster then a hard top does. So right now you may still get "full value" out of the Vert but in 2 years it will have dropped substantially if not very well taken care of.

P.S. I don't get people who buy brand new cars as an "investment" 99% of the time they don't pay off and even when they do it takes 20 years to earn 10%. If you want a nice toy, great, Buy it and have fun but if you want an investment go buy an S&P fund, they make on average 10%/year if you leave it in more then 5 years.

Good point. To his credit, OP didn't say this was an investment.

This gets complicated. I'm building a new house and contemplating solar panels, which will get me a tax credit and no electric bill. Gotta weigh that against taking the cost of the panels and investing it (minus cost of the electric bill). Still probably a safer "investment" than cars!

Isn't kind of like selling ICE to people in Alaska and jackets to people in Florida. You have to sell when the season is right. The Vert goes faster in summer when people love to ride with the top down.

They do when new. Smaller pool of buyers

In my experience, convertibles generally hold value BETTER than hardtops. If you watch Barrett Jackson or Mecum, etc., convertibles always bring more money. Certainly true for most Corvettes and Mustang GTs. I've owned multiple Vipers, Vettes, Mustangs, and classic cars.

1) Convertibles are more rare. 2) They are usually more desirable to a casual second owner/buyer who's often just looking for discounted fun (not the hard core track rat). Exceptions would be with manual trans, which again, attracts the track crowd, and I would say the Viper hardtop, which was unusually more rare than the Viper convertible.

It's an A10 trans. Not yet for sale, at this point - still considering.

Can you imagine if one dealer would have ordered one of the '69 ZL1's in a vert? IF Chevy would have even built it, it would be priceless today. Or at least in the multi-millions. Rock solid certified '69 Z coupes are worth what today? A little under $1MM? Convertibles worth less? Mmmm-k.

Maybe if you hold onto it for a while then your Mecum comparison makes sense. But selling it now it’s not a “classic” it a used car. A very nice one but most buying a ZL1 right now isn’t looking for collector value. Convertibles are heavier, don’t corner as well……. Don’t get me wrong I’m a vert guy and prefer them as I’m not tracking…

My local dealer has a 2024 Vert ZL1 for $85k with 268 miles. Ouch on that price.

Verts are worse than cars with a moonroof/sunroof. Just more electronics and parts to fail within a decade or so.
