I'll keep my $100 deductible thanks.
I get it, that a risk I take for a weekend car that only sees nice days and track events. I did the same with my GTO for 7 yrs.

For me to make a claim on this car it would have to be a major repair. In a total situation my payout is already agreed (Full Sticker Price) on so not much risk compare another insurer were they will use local auction data to adjust your claim.

Only hedge this risk on my toys. The other issue I have is I don't have another insurance policy due to company car so I cannot just add it to a multicar policy.

I insured my 06 GTO with them and they were great and covered the cost of all of my modifications with back up.

The will insure specialty vehicles and modified vehicles.

I've saved a lot more than my deductible over the years just through the reduction in premiums.
It all depends on how you want to look at it. In my case your right if you only run off my numbers. There was a $100 difference between the $2000 and the $100 deductibles back in 2010 when I first insured my V6 RS, over the 13 years I had it and never had an accident I paid about $2600 extra.

Then I got hit from behind by a moron on a WRX1000 with no endorsement, no registration, and no insurance (just bought the bike within the last 2 weeks and was going to/from the DLD to get his permit). So my insurance had to step in with my deductible. I'm happier that I spent that extra $100 every 6 months, while I had 50k in the bank the blow of $100 off what my car was worth when they scrapped it was much easier to take then what 2k would have been.

Had this happened 3 years earlier it would have been an even break. Any earlier and it would have saved me money. If it happens to my new 23 next year it will have saved me $1900.

Insurance to me is about hedging your bets on your car against others stupidity. The less I trust others the more I'm willing to pay. Hence carrying under insurred, uninsurred and yes $100 deductibles.

I just switched from Progressive to Hagerty for my Camaro. It isn't my daily driver and i was still paying 1200 every 6 months and i had it at 5k miles a year. Now with Hagerty i pay 1070 a year. I'm 40 with no accidents/tickets and a 60k declared value and no deductible.

Adding another data point here. Added my 2024 1LE to my policy recently, and it went up +70/month. That's with comprehensive and collision, 1000 deductible.

$1253 paid every 6 months for five vehicles (total) and $125 annually on a Buick Gran Sport.

2021 Silverado extended cab 6.2L , 2020 SS, 2019 ZO6, 2019 Lacrosse, 2012 Silverado regular cab 5.3L and 1971 Buick GS.

Ties into my house insurance.

If you reside in Houston, TX expect an increase every 6 months. Even if your an excellent driver, with a clean record. The only break I get is by putting my vehicle in storage mode, when I have to work out of town for 6 weeks straight. Than my insurance is only $80 a month. USAA insurance offers this, only if the vehicle is parked for 30-days and you have a car note.

I have been with State Farm for over 50 years and they could not come close to the National Corvette Museum.
